Napoleonic Duchy of warsaw artillery by Paul Hicks
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:46:12 PM »
Just received an e-mail from Roger (a.k.a RTB), who commissioned a range of Napoleonic Duchy of Warsaw troops from Paul last year. The poor bloody infantry now have some support in the shape of very nice artillery crews and guns : two crews of four figures each, one loading, one firing, and they come with a choice of Austrian 6 pdr (pre-1812) or French 8 pdr (post 1812). The figures were obviously  done by Paul Hicks while the guns are Sash & Saber (through an agreement with Chris Hughes).

To order these, get in touch with Roger via his blog and he'll smuggle you the goodies

Makes your fingers itch for a paintbrush and some colours, are there just the 4 artillery figures ? as a couple more would let you ring the changes on different bases.

Over on the Steve Dean forum they mentioned two crews (one loading and one firing) , so a total of eight I believe.

Yes, it's eight figures in total : two four figure crews, one loading, one firing. Look at Roger's blog (see link above) and you'll get a clearer idea of the variants.

The blurb on the Steve Dean forum is identical to the one above, by the way : I simply copied and pasted what I posted over there  ;)

Don't know these figures, do they match foundries or front ranks (higher)

Look very nice, thinking of buying these things.

They're RTB's private venture : he commissioned the figures from Paul Hicks and he is selling them to individual customers to finance their production, but he didn't set up a company for that purpose - same principle as Emil Horky's Bohemian Troops.

Paul's Poles (sorry, couldn't resist...) are meant to be compatible with Perry and Foundry, though bear in mind that the Perry twins sculpted Napoleonic French for Foundry over a period of nine years and that their later sculpts are much taller than the original French troops in full dress released in the early 1990's). These Poles are taller than the Foundry Austrians and Prussians (which are rather small) but are a perfect match for the Foundry Russians.

They are also about the same height as Front Rank, but they're more slender, less bulky and generally better proportioned.

Painted samples by Roger himself from his RTB At Large blog. The castings now go under the name of Murawski Miniatures and the guns and crews can be purchased from Roger via e-mail (roger.murrow@mmc2100.co.uk) :
