Vampire, bloody vampire
« on: August 02, 2012, 02:45:25 PM »
Hello gentlemen,

Some time ago I painted a gw vampire (for mordheim) as a gift for my good 'ol pal Vincenzo (discontinuosly Calopide here on LAF). I decided to use a brass/gold theme with a lot of verdigris cause I really do not like him in a standard red armour  :? I've redone the blood on the sword too cause the original sculpot wasn't that good to me. Here's some pics:

Let me know what you think 'cause C&C are always welcome! :)

Cheers
Faber

Corr that's a bit good - love the gore and nice use of the mini's pose!

Not sure about the OTT bat cape but that's more to do with the mini than your excellent painting.

Nice verdigris too by the way  8)

Thanks mate :)

Actually the miniature is what it is...a gw exaggeration!  :) And not their best cast (even if it is in metal and not in failcast): the swords aren't perfectly straight and the sculpted blood was a real fail IMO. That said, this is my favourite vampire in their range. The armour is wonderful! Really vampirish.

I have to say thanks to the prodigious MrDee -the blood master- who patiently explaned me how to reach this cool blood effect. I made some attempts before. Like this:

Nice job on the vampire, the PJ actually improves the figure. I really like the chaos warrior as well. How did you do the snow?

The snow was made by mixing baking soda, vinyl glue and water in a 1:1:1 ratio. On that wet mix I applied some baking soda to simulate fresh snow. Probably you could add to the mix (or replace the water with) satin or gloss varnish for a more icy effect. Hope this help!

I love your painting style! The bronze armour really suits the Khorne Champion.

Funny thing, there's a big storm going on here at the minute and as I scrolled down and looked at the Khorne warrior there was a mighty clap of thunder from outside. Very apt I felt lol
