Ben's Project Thingy: Zombehs (08/09)
« on: August 06, 2012, 09:19:23 AM »
I never got around to picking up Warhound Titans back in the day even though I really wanted some being fascinated by Epic Space Marine. These days though the original miniature has lost a bit of it's lustre like alot of the old GW figs. Nice ideas, and pretty uneven execution across the board.

I've also been wanting to put together something unique. So reading a pdf of the original Adeptus Mechanicus rules, a growing apathy towards my pile of Mechwarrior clickies, and an idea for a future commercial product lead me to the first project of this thread.

Showing off the carapace and some of the bits.

My design philosophy recently has been running to the awkward. Rule of cool can suck it.

Some Space Marines and a second hand Warlord titan for comparison.

The cockpit is a little bigger than the head on the warlord. Which actually gives enough room to fit three crew. The original models can't really be accused of having a consistent scale.

Void Shield emitter maybe?

It still needs some work of course, finish cleaning it up and adding some procreate detailing. Let me know what you think.

List of parts (all from Wizkids Mechwarrior line):
Legs and odd undercarriage bit- Solitaire Mech
Carapace and detail bits- Marksman M1 Tank
Additional waist spacer- JES III Missle Carrier Wheel
Hips and tail- Uller Mech (Dark Age version)
Rotary Gun- Repair Mech Mod
Other Gun- Forestry Mech Mod
Head- Ravager Battle Armor

Looks good..is that how it'll be painted for the game?  It looks too rag-tag (particularly with different feet) to be a proper adeptus mechanicus construct.  I used to love the original Epic (well whatever version was out when 2nd gen 40K was popular).  The later incarnations were woefully disappointing.  I think yours, as it stands now looks pretty decent, but I'd have to use it as a traitor legion model.  Also, the calling card of the Warhound was the big wolf-snout right?  Or am I thinking of a different one?  I think the titan looks unfinished without some techno-wolf stylized head.

Nice work though.

EDIT: I just saw you're using the old Epic bases...Oh joy! Very cool!

No, havent' actually painted it yet. These are just the 'bare' parts from the various figures I made it from. And the feet aren't actually different, it's just one heel is up. :)

Might try for a snout, I'm not sure. Like I said I am going to try some decoration and additional details with procreate.

AH!  Okay, I just looked at the pictures again, and I see what you mean.  The small metal disc is just the base of the foot...not the actual foot.  Gotcha.  I was going to say it was a weird choice.  Makes much more sense.

New display models for our own brand of zombies, organized by code number. Still have a couple to go.

Might reach Zombie fans better on their "Post Apocalyptic Tales" board.
Back from the dead, almost.

*Edit- Back up. Huh, first time I've ever seen the site go down.

Might reach Zombie fans better on their "Post Apocalyptic Tales" board.

Maybe, I don't compartmentalize that much personally. :)
