My feverish brain has just spawned a crazy idea (that comes from a week of vacation...   ).

I'm going to build a 3D game board in the form of a pyramid.

60x60 cm base (a now 'standard' game board for some games   ), 49,113 cm high (if my pythagorean calculations are correct).

It's going to be divided in 6 removable game levels + a top (just to finish it off when not in use).

Each game level will consist of a floor with a triangular border/rim (first level will have an entrance) 6 (first level 7) cm high. There'll be some blocks in the corners to rest next level on (and possibly some 'pinning' device to keep things aligned).

The interior will consist of a modular system of rooms, corridors, etc., so that I can construct different settings using the overall form of the pyramid....

As I'm now very close to having pulp minis enough ready for a good mummy-thumpin', I think I need such a setting for the final encounter(s)?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I'm guess that's 49.133cm high, not 49313cm, or 493m and 13cm.  :)

If so, go for it.

If it's really going to be almost half a km high, still go for it, but make sure you build it outside.

What a BRILLIANT idea!

I can't believe no one's come up with it yet either, our so called pulp forum!

A pyramid terrain board. Multi-layered. That's just smoking.

Sounds very good, don't forget the pit traps that drop you into the next level.

The though occurs that having a good look at some RPG material could be of use.

I just posted a couple of more photos to my Gallery .
I think I need to take some more photos and do a walk through .

Basically you enter by a ramp to the top of the Pyramid . There is a secret door which when opened triggers a large rock ball which them smashes into anyone walking into the corridor . The next person that enters triggers a trap door and falls into pit which has some GW swarms (now sold) . The trapdoor reveals an opening which the party can enter and then some stairs .
Following the stairs downwards you can wake up some undead or even the Mummy which has a nice Amazon casket. You then have to cross the pit to get to the doors to the underground cavern but opening the door lets the GW Tomb Scorpian out (now sold) .
Entering the Cavern down a ramp reveals some podiums which are used for sacrifying suitable victims (a scantily clad Rosy in our game) . There are also the secret entrances and the main entrance and a ring of volcanic lava which some figures may have to try and cross.
Its a shame we only used it for a couple of games but maybe I could do a Demo some time with it.

In Denmark, we use ',' as the fraction separator, and '.' as the thousands separator - I did not think of that, when I wrote it - yes, of course, the great pyramid's height is about 81,86% of it's baseline (again, if I have calculated correctly).  :D

Darn , why is'nt that working?

Can't tell.

Very nice pyramid - did you use Hirst Arts thingys for the entrance - or is it something out of a dime store?

I'm going for the 'classic' entrance at the bottom of the pyramid, and I'm not going to make fixed interior.

I'm also thinking of some underground extensions - I'm imagining some cut-away sloping corridors leading down (like an ant terrarium, but without the glass   ) to pull out, if/when the players find the hidded entrance to the most sacred places... they could with several options of entrances to the underground levels...

It is actually going to be constructed as a stepped pyramid - I'm just gointng to make an obligue 'shell' out of very thick card (2 mm) to creayte the angled surface.

And, yes, there's going to be trap doors, secret doors, traps unleashing swarms of scarabs and/or cobras and/or scorpions... and Guardians of the Pharaoh's Secrets...

I'm going to need some Shadowforge Temple of the Light minis, as well of some Wargods of Aegyptus  :D    :D  :)

Does Shadowforge and/or Reaper have a good European distributor (apart from Battlefield Berlin?

(I'd like to be able to pay online (sorry BB), but if it's not possible....)

I asked about a Reaper distributor a few days ago. http://www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk/ is apparently the place to go.

As for Shadowforge, http://www.fighting15sshop.co.uk/ sells them.

Dan, it isn´t working because you linked the IMAGE PAGE, not the image itself. Right-click the image, and if using firefox, you can simply copy the image link by clicking the context menu entry "copy image adress" (or something, I´ve got a german one).

This must be bracketed by to produce a result like that:

And that´s a marvellous piece of terrain you´ve got. I´m still on and off if I should build some more specifically "egyptian" terrain for my Stargate Stuff...

I think you should go for it.

The satisfaction when complete will compensate for any pain in construction.

Anyway you could always try to use some slaves like the egyptians
