On Her Majesty's Service Rules
« on: 20 August 2012, 01:25:20 PM »
My copy of A World Aflame arrived today.  At the back is a picture of Osprey's next rule book for Steampunk Skirmish, On Her Majesty's Service .  No other news.

They are really hitting the gaming scene... I guess they've always been a part of it, indirectly at least.

I was tempted to buy their World Aflame rules, as I really enjoyed PDEs Jerusalem. Is it any good?

Not had time to read it, but as usual prooduction is good.  It is really for VBCW but includes SCW, CCW and the German uprisings.

In Her Majesty's Name is due May 2013 (all being well!), for those of you who are interested. A bit back, I promised a sneaky peek at it, so here is a bit of the artwork we've had done for it (don't tell my boss!) and a bit more information...

Quote
It is 1895 and the world is in turmoil. The Great Powers compete for resources and the latest technology, and an undeclared and secret war rages between them all. This is battleground of the Adventuring Companies. These clandestine agents of the Great Powers operate in the shadows, matching skills and wits in pursuit of the newest scientific formulae or powerful occult artifacts. In Her Majesty’s Name sets these adventuring companies against each other in one-off encounters and in longer narrative campaigns. Companies are usually comprised of just 4–15 figures and two players could easily play three games in an evening, making an on-going campaign a highly viable option. In Her Majesty’s Name has been designed to allow maximum versatility for the player – if you can imagine it, the system will help you build it. There is, however, a wealth of material provided in the book, covering weird science, mystical powers, and a range of pre-generated adventuring companies, including the British Explorers’ Club, the Prussian Society of Thule, the US Marine Corps, the Légion Étrangère, the revolutionaries of the Brick Lane Commune, ancient Egyptian cults, and the mysterious Black Dragon Tong.

I've got to try and remember this, it sounds like something that's practically designed for me and my usual gaming crew.

Woot!

I'm excited to see Osprey's VSF/Steampunk version of The US Marine Corps.

So, I guess I should say.... oooorah!

Or bark a bunch, a lot of the older Marines I know still do that.

This does sound promising.
 ;D

Almost too good to be true.
Our group are intending to do something very similar next year anyway.
One to keep an eye open for...
