1/144 pilots
« on: August 29, 2012, 08:08:58 PM »
I just picked up a rather cute 1/144 scale Revell "Micro Wings" plastic kit of a Spitfire Mark 1 - less than £2 new, which isn't bad.  But although there's a transparent canopy, there's no pilot.  Before I make a fool of myself trying to sculpt one, can anyone suggest a source?  I'm not sure if 10mm or 12mm would be better.

Thanks.
Back from the dead, almost.

Have a search through this site, I'm sure they have something.

cant think of anyone who makes pilots.
Best bet would be to get a set of Preiser 1/144th figures( passengers or groundcrew) and convert them to sitting pose.
Alot can be done with paint in 1/144th
Take a look at Matador models for cockpits too
http://www.matadormodels.co.uk/yairfield6%20144%20cockpits/lists%20cockpits.htm
I have known of modellers carving a small bit of sprue and detailling it with paint to make a pilot too ;)

Thanks, guys.

The link to Matador that McYellowbelly gave lists a 1/144 metal cockpit kit designed to fit exactly the Revell model Spit that I've got for just 80p, so I think I'll give that a try.
