So, FoF has more than a few Middle Eastern bent rules books with the obligatory WW3 book, and some African/Asian fighting (Bush Wars and Vietnam settings.)
Thinking about putting FoF into ssome scenarios for "near future" Asia (Japan, PRC, Koreas, SEA,) South America, and/or North America gaming.
Anyone done some rules writing or battles using FoF rules for say 2050 - 2112 in the locales I mention in the second sentence?
Gracias,
Glenn

Rules are rules, you just need to print up some stats of units. That is very near-future, and the battles would hardly be different. Print up some of your own specialized event cards if you want. I have only done FOF in current Iraq/Afghanistan, but there is zero reason it wouldn't work for your purposes.

Just what Elbows said. Make up your force list, make up some missions and you are ready to rock and roll. There tommrow war rules might be up you ally if you looking for a more Sci- fi bent

I was thinking of the exact same thing Conquistador, FOF games always seem a little odd with 30 insurgents against one rifle brick, regular platoons versus regular platoons would make for a much more interesting game.
Maybe check out the Postwar and Modern forum?

Hat Guy, FOF rule set is Ambush Alleys regulars vs regulars rules. there First rule set, is actually called Ambush Alley and is there counter insurgency rules.
But those rules are also in there FOF rules. You can even Mix and Match the forces with mixed insurgent and regular forces going at it.
But what Mr. Conquistador is looking for is Ambush Alleys "Tomorrow War" rule set if he is looking for a near future/hard sci-fi game using the FOF rules.

I have
Tomorrow's War
(nice rules BTW) but I was thinking that the rules seem a bit more SF than my current mental ramblings. Or maybe I am "over science-ing" the process for the period which kind of blurs the SF and the modern.
Correct answer was given early on - write up some background to determine what is different enough to step outside FoF, design some units to reflect that background, and give it go with both rules sets (which share the same core.) Review results, fiddle, and repeat.

commissarmoody - I have never seen a FOF game of regulars versus regulars, I am aware that the rules are written this way (I own FOF and TW), but everyone seems more interested in gaming Iraq and Afghanistan.
At my local club we've discussed exactly what Conquistador is considering, playing platoon vs platoon and to heck with history. Spearhead Modern did the same with their NATO vs WARSAWPAC rules. Such gaming doesn't necessitate SF (or eliminate it as a possibility). I'm thinking more Red Dawn or Command and Conquer (without the space lasers).
