Looking for Rapier alternative
« on: 02 March 2008, 07:33:45 AM »
Does anyone know of a company that sells a 25/28mm weapon system similar to the old GW Rapier?

Perhaps something that has a series of turrets or weapon systems that could fit onto it?

I was looking at the Old Crow turrets in their 28mm range and thinking that it would be great to have some sort of tracked device that could fit all of those and allow them to be used as an infantry support platform.

Maybe 15mm tanks could do the job?

That appears to be the general consensus. That and 1:72nd scale tanks.

Now I know what you mean, the closest I can think of is the Goliath remote control tank from WW2

There must be others off to have a scout around

I think GZG even hinted they should be used as such in their announcements.

Those actually look much nicer than the old Citadel model. I remember thinking it looked a bit rubbish even at the time.

You are right Poly, I think the GW IIRC were fairly high sided and on a narrow wheel(track) base these have a better and lower centre of gravity

Any idea how these would scale with 28mm?

They look like a terrific alternative to the forge world turrets, albeit half the size.

If not useful for emplacement turrets, at least they´ll make great sentry guns à la Aliens´ Colonial Marines stuff.

You might find something of use in the Old Crow range

Probably not well. As Chris mentions they would make good sentry guns. If you want larger emplaced turrets then do check out the Old Crow range
