Battle of Lobositz 1756

Battle of Lobositz 1756

Turn 1 is 6am, night falls at 7pm for a total of 14 turns.

The Austrian army deploys with its left flank anchored on the Morellen-Bach opposite Tschischkowitz and the right flank of Lacy deployed between Lobositz and Welhotta. The advance guard deploys immediately in front of the sunken road. The Prussian main army enters along the road from Bilinka, with the advance guard at Wichinitz. The Prussians are the attackers.

All woods are open. The Morellen-Bach is a stream with marshy banks as shown, the ponds are unfordable, as is the River Elbe. All buildings are wooden with the exception of Lobositz, which has one stone block and two wooden blocks. All Infantry Regiments have battalion guns but none have grenadiers present.

The effects of the fog are simulated as follows: Fog only affects visibility on the plain and not on the contours. The maximum visibility range through the fog is reduced half. At the beginning of the 7am turn, and the start of every turn thereafter, throw one D6. If the number rolled is less than the current turn number, the fog lifts immediately.
The fog lasted 5 turn photoshop was used to represented these turns in the pictures, another 85 photos of this famous battle are now upload on the main website in the gallery.
Victory Conditions

The Prussians must collapse three of the Austrian commands before nightfall and capture the far bridge. The Austrians win by preventing the Prussians from doing the above.

Commander: Frederick (Great) enter the field with his men under cover of the fog.

The battlefield after turn four, Prussians march forward in the fog

The fog clears at turn 6 and Lobositz is now the main objective for both armys

Austrians hit the Morellen-Bach and the marsy ground becomes a great problem to cross this slows down the support.

Commander: von Browne can't believe his luck as a large part of the Prussian army advance to Morellen-Bach and leaving Lobostiz still, he sees a great opportunity to attack the Prussian left and center.

Morellen-Bach and the Prussian mistake

Prussian artillery move to Morellen-Bach to stop what they think is a great threat.

The Austrians make the advance on the Prussian center.

Austrian at  Morellen-Bach marshy ground but still manage to cross to check the Prussian attacks.

Commander: von Browne screaming victory and waving his hat to his beloved men.

The Austrian left wing cross the Morellen-Bach marshy ground and support Lobostiz the Prussians knew by now the mistake they made.

The battle was won by the Austrian army, the main mistake was the Prussian to focus to much on the on the Morellen-Bach marshy ground, this lefted the Austrian to collapse the Prussian attack around the town of Lobositz and roll them over...god bless the wargame table for reversing history.

Very nicely done!  I like the segue from map to table, helps fill in or remind one what the battel was about. Figures look great as well.

I'm using BP for my SYW games now too. How are you liking it? Haven't managed to have a game since Last Argument of Kings came out, so I haven't test driven their army lists yet.

It needs amendments but works great for the SYW
