New Victoria, Mars. 25rd September 1889. The offices of the Illustrated London News Overseas Reporting Team.Dear Reader,
I regret to inform of a disasterous engagement that occured on Saturday 22nd September 1889 between the forces of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, (Gaud Bless 'Er) Empress of India, Mars, Venus and Atlantis and the indigenous Sky Dwelling Martians on the plains outside Kaa-Nas-Ooktaa.
We are still trying to piece together the events from the recollections of the survivors as to how a whole column could be massacred by an inferior foe. Among the missing presumed dead are The Admiral Lord Ivor Mough D'Ivor, Major Allan Farquar-Farquarson VC, Lord Belborough and the French journalists Henri Bic and Jean Paul Biro.
Your Humble servant,
Archibald Harris-Hampton
The Illustrated London NewsThe relief column comprising both British and Japanese troops snakes its way across the plain towards the camp at Kaa-Nas-Ooktaa

Gentlemen of the press including the famous French journalists Henri Bic and Jean Paul Biro record the scene

Lord Belborough, his servant Satinder Bath and Major Allan Farquar-Farquarson VC in the Belborough Safari Walker "Molly"

The illustrated London News Overseas reporting team are surprised as Martians suddenly descend from their skiffs above. They are killed to a man, but put up a stiff resistance defending themselves with pens and pencils

The vehicle now without a driver crashes into the rocks, but no Martians are injured.

Before they can react The Admiral Lord Ivor Mough D'Ivor's walker is also attacked and the crew cut down in seconds.

The Admiral's last stand. "What were his thoughts at the end I wonder?

More Martians appear and attack the remnants of the column

With his master gone, Satinder Bath bravely battled on until he too was overwhelmed

Only a group of civilian volunteers and some coolies make it to the safety of the camp, fortunately they did lose the tea rations en route. So all is not lost. "God Save the Queen"
