Jens, I really like piping! :-*
Will it appear in your store later on (I'm a bit lazy to do it myself, and I know I'll fuck it up at some point and just throw it out the window)?
Yes, eventually. The mold is curing as I type, but I'll need the first twenty or so casts for my corridors :o

And do you do small wheels and such for doors, pressure and other stuff (Can't find the right word at the moment).
Something like this?

On a related note there's a book out about HK architecture, although the more modern stuff, unfortunately for many of us only in German at the mo'...

Although the more modern buildings are cleaner and neater I don't think they're as interesting.

Scary. Even scarier that my cousin is currently in Hongkong, living in one of these things, somewhere in floor 63 if I recall correctly.

Is it just me, or do some of these look like Giger's work?

Some more detailing:

Distribution boxes are polystyrene and MDF, wires are thin solder. I'm currently working on some more detailed boxes to decorate the walls. Up to now, I have a few hinged boxes to be used as fuse boxes or first-aid kits, a power meter and a fire hose cabinet. I'm running a bit out of ideas, though. Any more suggestions?

I was reading a bit about these slums in hong kong and I came across a few images I thought you might find helpful.

This guy in the cage is sharing a room with a load of other people their helpful landlord (slum lord) has constructed dog kennels so they can lock themselves in at night. They can be stacked three high and have up to twenty a room.

Nice.

Suggestion: paint your solder 'cables' before putting them up - it saves enormous amounts of time reaching into visible but unreachable gaps with a paint-brush. For that matter, I'm a fan of pre-painting as much of my building materials as possible before installation.

This build is looking so cool! Eagerly awaiting further developments!

Based on the pictures above and the ones earlier, some debris or jury-rigged repairs are definitely a possibility.

Floors are separate for that very reason. The ceiling details are an inset made from thin polystyrene. Once painted, everything will be glued together.

I'm slowly nearing the look I' trying to achieve. Finished detailing the first three floors, made ceilings, and printed out some "newspapers" to scatter around (basically, they are downsized pictures of real newspapers, but all my printer gives me is something grainy grey). Floors and ceilings still look a bit featureless - more debris for the floors is in order, but I'm not so sure about the ceilings. Painted-on mould, I guess.

 :o :o :o

This is really coming together amazingly well.
Love all the detailing and the 'lived-in' look is just superb.
A masterpiece in the making!
