Excellent stuff! How does it size up with 28mm? The Revell one looks great but it quite pricey....

The Revell and the Zvezda cogs are exactly the same except for the decals included.
They are very suited for 28mm and have been used more then once to game a War of the Roses game with Pery figs.

As Johan said, the Zvezda and the Revell ones are exactly the same kits.
They are fine with 28mm

Thereīs a new one, similar size to the Zvezda, but designed more as a war ship, (bigger forecastle) than the Zvezda/revell one,  coming out soon, produced by Valdemar

It is designed specifically for 1/72nd, the hand rails etc would probably not fit to 28mm.

The Thomas English varient is better than the kogge as it has a crows nest. Otherwise identical.

They are spot on for 28mm.

I have eight of these mostly picked up cheaply on EBay, six Revell and two of the Zvezda Thomas version with the larger forecastle and crows nest though I fully expect some will end up with larger scratch-built fore and after castles. Nice kits, already waterlined unlike the Viking ship kits by Revell and others which is very good.

The Valdemar one looks a little odd but seems to be based more on reconstructions of the one that was excavated.

With Crusader Teutonic knights ordered I could see these being used for some Baltic crusades amphibious warfare.

I am toying with the idea of using magnets to allow the castles to be swapped around so that a fantasy version could have ballistas (I have my eye on the Warlord Games plastic Roman ones) and a historical gunship early cannon (easy enough to poodlefake from brass or styrene tube), probably breech loaders as I think that they are more interesting and quite appropriate.

The valdemar is indeed based on the one found. Also, there are a few more being designed at this moment, about 10 different types, not by valdemar..
When finished there should be about 40 possible variants.
