Thanks to you all for your kind words and for taking the time to write.  Belisarius, I might add that in addition to the Playmobil providing a guy like me who has limited hull-making skill with a good starting point, the Playmobil also provides a hull area that allows figures to have areas to stand without stacking them on top of one another.  All in all, the Playmobil hulls have worked out really well for me.  Richard

Brilliant...looks fantastic.  I'm debating trying to build one for my eventual colonial games (let's be honest...it's going to happen!)...and be able to use the same ship for some Old West riverboat gaming...

Gentlemen, thanks to you both for taking the time to write and for the kind words.  Admiral, I'm a great fan of your work so your note is much appreciated.  Elbows, as I indicated to another writer, I was surprised by how few of the Yangtze-style gunboats I could find that had been made for 25/28mm.  I had no trouble finding work that had been done on gunboats for the Sudan campaign, but not much for the "San Pebbles" era and location.  Consequently, I think it would be great if you took on the project.  I wish I had been able to see more of what others had done when I was working on mine.  I find borrowed ideas a great help.  As to your idea for a dual use for the gunboat, I'm no expert but my guess is it would be easier to accomplish that if you were working on the Sudan style gunboat as they have the sidewheels and are of an older era.  Just a thought.  Again, thanks to both of you for writing.  Richard
