BLACK HAWK DOWN
Myself and David Tuck (of the Grimsby Wargames Society) was asked to join in on this anniversary issue, we both immediately leapt to the incident that occurred in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993. Dave would write the article while i did the photos, i would like to thank W.I. for allowing us to take part in the 300 anniversary and we all agree they have come along way from the very first issue and have contributed a great deal to wargaming.

We created the firefight as close as we could get to the movie and for those who have seen Black Hawk Down will have more of a understanding of what is going on and for those who have never seen the movie  ...  i suggest you watch it as it is one of the all time great war films.

cheers malc the manc

Take one - informant contacts C2 helicopter which makes call sign "IRENE"

Take four - Little hawks delivers Delta teams to target building

Take 6 - Rangers chalks fast rope into the Black Sea area of Mogadishu

Take 12 - Action at the super six four crash site

Take 35 - Rangers follow UN tranports out along the Mogadishu mile.

The Victorian Outpost

Its a new gaming place in Grimsby with new terrain and new scenery, lots of respect for all wargamers and is the best place to game in town.

Anybody who wishes to visit the venue to arrange a game then  just pm me and lets roll those dice.

Nice stuff Malc

Black Hawk Down is on the list of games on The Bunker Backburner - I think your pics & the helicopter magazine Blackhawks have moved it up the rankings

Really striking board!

Also, besides the movie - read the book, folks! Marc Bowman did a great job capturing the entire event, including going into Somalia later to interview combatants from the neighborhood.
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."
