Quick, cheap and simple Dinosaur Cavalry
« on: October 22, 2012, 09:37:20 AM »
Hi, All!

I set myself a challenge by buying the worst cheap and nasty dinosaurs Toyworld could offer...

With a bit of luck, these will look pretty good when I'm done!

Hope you like.

Sorry to hear about the spam storm. Tar-and-feathers; too good for the blighters!

Those are hardly the nastiest dino's I've seen, but even the start of conversion elevates them, as has been mentioned already.

However, I shall allow my curmudgeon-ess to come to the fore, and point out that I think the saddles should be astride the beasties haunches.

Otherwise, cracking, indeed!

Doug

I have a few very similar dinos on my workbench to do the same thing with. althoough I plan on mounting some colonial troops on mine. Horses just don't transport well to Mars or Venus.

I'm not sure I'd mix meat-eaters and plant-eaters in the same unit. There might be trouble.  ;)

Well, if they are not on Earth they may not be mixed in dietary habit.   lol

Gracias,

Thank you, gentlemen - and I shall take your comments under advisement...

I thought about the herbivore/carnivore thing and I did wonder... but then I thought, "What the heck? They'll look pretty." So that's that.

Anyway, many horses are cannibals. I can prove it. I read it in my sketchbook.

As for riders sitting above haunches, Doug - Yes: You're right. No: I'm not changing them. And I must apologise for the lack of rivets.

Just about ready to paint them. I only have to add the reins to three of the blighters and we're away!

More pics soon...

Thats really all of the justification that one needs for anything in VSF

As well as "It's not VSF unless the operator is actively risking his life", which I see you have also accomplished admirably.

These fellow look great.
I wish I was better at conversions: I'd love to make some of these for myself!  :-*

Slightly off topic, but I somehow missed your British flyer. It looks fantastic.!

Blodwin - Thanks. You're too kind, Sir!

Aggro - Thank you very much. I was very pleased with the way the hydrothermicopter turned out. Haven't finished the MkII yet...

Quick question if I may? How 'bendy' are those toys?

Looking forward to seeing paint on them  :)

Quick answer:

Quite bendy.

However, with their feet superglued to metal washers and using acrylic undercoat and inks, they should be fine - the colours will bend with the model.

Nearly finished colouring them...
