10mm Scif-Fi lines...learn me.
« on: 13 November 2012, 06:19:11 AM »
Apologies as this is very much an off-shoot of my own thread.

As I'm rounding the final bend for my models for my Robotech game I want to source some 10mm figures, generic ground vehicles, shuttles and extraneous bits.  I have never done any 10mm Sci-fi gaming and have ZERO idea where to even start looking.

Hoping you guys could throw out a handful of manufacturers to check out.

Looking for simple generic infantry, a couple of "near future" looking shuttles, helos and ground vehicles.

I'm not trying to match the photos, but just put out the visual aspect of Robotech for your info.  They're futuristic but not crazy.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!  Just looking for a handful of extra vehicles for scenarios and such.

I' guess modern 10mm/N-Scale/12mm from Minifigs would work well. There's also http://www.hawkwargames.com/ but it's a bit pricey.

Check the Future War Commander's forum by Specialist Military Publishing for further info on 10mm Sci-Fi.

The old clix mechwarrior range had some good vehicles and I'm pretty sure they were 10mm. Need rebasing obviously.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Heavy Gear Blitz from Dream Pod 9 is a nominal 12mm, but has lots of generic vehicles that would work well.

Also the new one from Spartan Firestorm Invasion is still pretty limited in range, but has some nice 10mm gravtanks, more traditional tanks, power suits etc.

I'm a big fan of Pendraken's 10mm line (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Sci-Fi-c22/).  Their sci-fi range doesn't have the sort of vehicles you're looking for, but they have some great near-future ground pounders.  The Pendraken website doesn't have pictures, but you can track down photos of most of them on-line.

If you're interested, I've got a bunch of photos on my blog (see sig).

Also, check out the MechWarrior: Dark Age line of clicky games.  Those are in 10mm and are a great fit for most manufacturers.  These days you can find them pretty cheap second-hand, too.  It's a clicky game, though, so you have to kind of take what you can get.

Yeah I grabbed up a couple of the Mechwarrior clix stuff (found them cheap on a site that divies up the boxes).  I also grabbed any $1-2 mechs they had...since I may do an offshoot Battletech version of my game (I seem to have some excess models, so why not?)

I think the Mechwarrior stuff meets my needs perfectly (especially for cheapness...), but I'm going to keep my eye on the others for future stuff.

The pendrakens look nice.
