Knights, Fireforge Games & Crusader Miniatures
« on: 14 November 2012, 05:26:44 PM »
There's a few photos of a set of figures based Peter of Dreux, from illustrations from the Osprey book 'The Crusades' (Elite Series E19), hopefully they will help pass the time while waiting for me to finish my 'little' Great Round tower project.

The mounted version is a (slightly) modified Fireforge figure and the foot knight on foot is a Crusader Miniatures figure.

Regards,
Matt

Superb painting!

Pierre "Mauclerc" de Dreux married Alix de Bretagne. Alix was Arthur's half sister (the young Plantagenest who died in 1204). Mauclerc means Mauvais Clerc, i.e. Bad Cleric for Pierre first decided to join the roman church. This explains the quarter of hermines (often used by the church). This marriage gave him the county/duchy of Brittany

The Hermines later became part of the Dukes of Brittany heraldy.

Thanks for all your comments and feedback.

@SgtPerry - Thanks for that info, very interesting.

@Paleskin - the mail isn't that shiny in real life, if that makes sense. I had my lamp inches away from the figure to try and get a decent picture.

Matt
