New Goblins from Four A Miniatures
« on: 05 December 2012, 02:00:20 AM »
A Goblin, a Goblin - My Kingdom Four A Goblin...

Sorry couldn't resist massacring a bit of the Bard for this post! And if you didn't get the finely wrought pun then let me enlighten you...

I spent a most pleasant few hours over in Pudsey at Recon 2012 at the weekend - even the kids behaved well for me (the wife was off doing stuff for her Midwifery training) long after the initial excitement of seeing lots of little monsters - actually there were more little tanks in the demonstration and participation games. Talking of which there was an excellent game based on the 1953 version of War of the Worlds - you know the one with the Manta Ray style Martian war machines.

Anyway I digress.

Its always nice at these events to pop over and have a good chat with Andy of Four A Miniatures  and see what new miniature goodies he has in. Well I was certainly not disappointed as sitting there proudly were the latest additions to the his Goblin range, sculpted by Kev Adams himself, nonetheless!

I gather these guys haven't quite made it onto the online shop yet but they won't be long and they're definitely worth looking out for. As you can see I've wasted no time getting a grey primer and black ink wash on them!

Its nice to see the range branching out and developing - this release sees some rather nice Goblin villagers -

A brilliant Goblin shaman -

Notice the little raptor poking his head out from beneath his cloak!

A bunch of new warriors -

Love the new boozy archer - hope he can shoot straight though!

The Blow pipe armed Goblin is another nice new twist.

And most excitingly - a mounted Goblin with a bad case of crabs!

This guy is loads of fun and there will be a few more variants to look forward to as well.

I can't wait to get started on painting these chaps up, although they will have to wait a little while - I've started work on the little commission Binman has asked me to do for his amazing Mordheim project.

It's certainly going to be nice to do some more "traditional" Old World fare in the form of a couple of Elves, a Gnome and a Snotling! They are now based on 2p coins, primed and almost base coated...

There is a lot of character here, but what else do you expect from Kev Adams and from Four A miniatures. I for one am sick to death of 'night goblins'; can't wait to see you paint these beauties up.

I love these models!  Aces!

Don't know if it's even a possibility, but I would love to see some Goblin Monks in this style--unarmed fighters essentially in rough traveling gear.  I know they don't quite fit the milieu these figures go with, but just airing my desires in the hopes someone from 4A might consider it!

Thanks!

Love that crab!

Will have to bother Andy and see if he will consider selling it separately.

"We are the Goblins of the Sea.

And we love a spot of tea!"
There now, Gilbert & Sullivan have been despoiled as well.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Little Lads & Lasses in full color. Have FUN with them all!

Quick work on getting these posted steve ;).They must be nearly finished painting now ;).

I wanted the villager types doing as the Sea Demons will be attacking them and it gives a bit more visual appeal when you see them and gives the warriors some objectives in saving them.Had some concept art done for two new warrior types for the Sea Demons.Sure people will like them as much as I do.

I have a few others still not shown that Kev has done for me.

Any and all idea's welcome fourcolourfigs. The list keeps getting longer.

The New Year was going to see two new races for the world setting. That has now turned into three after asking Kev a few questions.More on that in the New Year.

The other packs have been released with five pieces in each. There are the four villagers and I am thinking the blowpipe on in one set and the others in the other.Doing it this way saves me having loads of moulds and gets them released quicker.I had been asked to sell the pieces as singles. What do people prefer.

Thanks for all the support this year.It has been really encouraging to here your thoughts on the growing range and meet some of you.

 Cheers

 Andy C.

Ha - you know me Andy, I'm not one to let mere sleep get in the way of my hobby  ::)

I can't say they're quite finished yet...  lol

... but definitely looking forward to painting them Damien.

New Sea Demons and new races to look forward to in the new year  :P

Agh, Scurv - you had to mention the Eureka turtle! I love that mini but hadn't thought of it in conjunction with these little fellas. I need to go and buy it. Now!

Deafnala - this despoiling lark is rather liberating 'aint it  :D

Mason - the only slight problem you might have with the crab is that the Goblin rider's legs are integral - you glue his upper body on.

Demi-Morgana - Resistance is futile...

Fourcolourfigs - intriguing idea!

Andy, you are not helping...  >:(  lol

Or you, for that matter, White Knight!  ;)

Mind you saying that -

I dare say nic would sell you just the turtle and battle platform sans turtle figs for a bit cheaper. Let him know what you are using it for, he likes that sort of thing. I reckon he would love your gobbos too especially the one with the teapot.

- I might have to get in touch...

Love your idea about the travelling turtle village Skurv - mind you I'd need at least 4 turtles.

One for the Inn, two for housing and a fourth with the barracks on its back!

Oh and for more totally bonkers what about a goblin hunter with a couple of lungfish hunting hounds? (or crocs or aligators)

I have some of these Swamp Hounds waiting to be painted - also from Four A

I gather that there may well be some of the little raptors being sculpted as well with this chap making a good handler -

I think a game against your turtle warriors would be immense fun if you ever find yourself in sunny Yorkshire  :D

I LOVE your new Goblin & his Little Scaly Amigo...GREAT WORK on the scales & the painting/basing in general. VERY WELL DONE!

AND speaking of Turtle/Tortoises, this is a bit of Mega-Fauna (with a Goblin for scale) I have to do:

The Traveling Tavern idea sounds EXCELLENT, sort of an Earth bound Floating Vagabond Intergalactic Bar & Grill...thanks for the idea.
