Things from the swamp
« on: December 09, 2012, 12:56:06 PM »
I've been carrying on unearthing my old fantasy figures to look at. and came across these Swamp Lords from minifigs. I painted a swampy army up about 15 years ago and will post more pictures as we go along. I remember going to the first Games Workshop in 1 Dalling Road Hammersmith, in the late 70's early 80's and seeing these swamp lords in a glass cabinet along with the rest of the VFW range.

I have got pictures of the Swamplords altar too, but as it has naked females being hacked to pieces by slobbering monsters I thought I had better check before posting them!

Did you paint these guys 15 years ago? If so you must be a pretty amazing painter today! I always stayed away from minifigs; thought they looked a little goofy. You are changing my opinion of the range, these are really original and pretty freakn' cool!

Keep posting

Those Swamp Guys really bring back some memories...God but I feel OLD now. That aside, since I'm going rather swampy with my latest (&probably last) project, these BEAUTIFULLY painted & based Little Wonders have a special appeal. VERY WELL DONE!

I'm 44 now, so I suppose I was in my late 20's when I did these. I seem to find a lot of painters reach an optimum level of painting and then either maintain it, change styles or regress, and I suspect I am in the latter category. It's been a while since I painted 28mm figures but have been doing some 1/72 plastics and 54mm Toy soldier style stuff, which is highly therapeutic, like colouring in pictures, but not very taxing!!

.God but I feel OLD now.
Don't we all  :(

Discovered this post when searching for Swamp Lords pics on Google....thought it worth resurrecting as I'd missed it first time round! Great PJs - do you have pics of the others? I've just got mine out from back in the day and am slowly working my way through the litter bearer at the moment......
