American Colonial Horror?

What was the name of that American Colonial horror rule set?
And does anyone know if it was any good.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Btw are you the same 'Gray Ghost' as on TMP, author e.g. of "The, very fictious, Seige of Vechta"  (which involved a flying siege battery held up by hot air balloons :-*)?

I have these rules.  Loved reading them but wondered at the time how playable they were.

As observed, bring the supernatural into real historical events can work but it takes a good sense of balance on the GM's part (and flexible rules that give a sense of both history and horror.)

I can't decide if I want to keep them or get rid of them for downsizing for retirement.  I don't plan to keep my Gothic Horror figures and I don't want to collect 25+ mm AWI/F&I/American Colononial figures for gaming (space considerations) but these rules keep not making it to the sell/giveaway/throw way pile.  I don't think I could pull this off in 6 or 3 mm easily.  Now if they were set in the Spanish Southwest of the 1650 - 1770 era... that I could pull off.

i just wish they were horrible instead of flawed or more playable than they appear to be.

My guess is that like 'Patriots & Loyalists & Zombies', 'Witch hunter', 'Witchfinder general', 'The Savage World of Solomon Kane and 'All for one: Regime Diabolique'  such sets are useful mostly for the background (if unfamiliar), some quantitative data and mostly inspirational scenarios. Then the games themselves can better be played with well-tried, more generic rules. I see no reason why 'Chaos in Carpathia could not be used in a game set a century earlier; even 'Strange Aeons' was successfully adapted to the 18th C., and 'Empire of the Dead' could probably be transposed to the time of Barry Lyndon (maybe with a few 'Lacepunk' devices using the stats of the 'steampunk' ones).

You raise  a good point.  If you knew enough about an era/period and the rules did not need a complete re-write to suit your idea of what you wanted then any set of rules (say, Stargrunt II,) could be adapted.

Agree with above. Look up all the info on the time period on the net (very easy) and grab some rules.

 My pick for balance and just the generics of the rules would be Fear and faith and a very underated rules set called VORTEX both would serve you well and you can DL them for next to little money wise.

 A field in England (commented elsewhere on the LAF)

Both stories can easily provide a 'Lacepulp' campaign  set in the Miskatonic valley during the F&IW  :)
