The Pacific War 1879 - 1884: Tabletop Miniatures Range 28mm

Matchlock Miniatures have previewed some trial figs for this period, if enough people pledge money for orders the range will see the light of day;

An interesting conflict, loads of colour!

Fascinating period, colourful uniforms and I'm more interested than ever after visiting Peru earlier this year but I can't muster a great deal of enthusiasm for those sculpts I'm afraid. Still as Private Eye once so cruelly said of Jeremy Thorpe, buggers can't be choosers.

Good thing I no longer buy 25+ mm figures for historical figures - I would be disappointed by what I see so far. :(

"Meh," sums it up best. :-I

It's a very interesting conflict to game, but these figures are disappointing.  :?

My thoughts too. Considering what other manufacturers now produce, these just won't cut it.

I think you guys are being limited in your thoughts seeing as these are only trial figures

The confusion is not simulated...

What is a trial figure?

Gracias,

Glenn

Trial, as in 'hey figure sculpting looks fun, let's give it a try!'. If that's what's on offer I'll pass. Too little time to waste on painting figures that look like sculpts from the early 1980s. I liked Essex figures in the '80s but these don't even reach that level judging by their photos.

I received a nice surprise in the mail. Some miniatures for the period and IMHO they are very nice. Will do very nicely for the period in question.

I think you may change your tune when you see them in the metal.

Cheers,

Helen

I really don't think they look that bad. These are intended painted up in large groups & placed on a table for wargaming. When viewed from 2 or 3 feet away every figure doesn't need to be the most highly detailed masterpiece. These figures are not as bad as some people here are claiming. They would fit right in with many of the stuff I have seen by other contemperary lines. I would like to see them come out. I think the would mix well for some other South & Central American coflicts of the later 19th century as well.

Thanks Carlos.Forgot to mention that two of the miniatures are a standard bearer and the other a bugler advancing holding bugle in right hand. Both in Kepis uncovered.

Cheers,

Helen

I look forward to seeing them Helen, I thought I would remind everyone of a figure that Outpost produced for me which will be good if this range comes out;
