ALF
« on: 20 December 2012, 12:34:14 PM »
I got a very quick, very simple paint job done on this fun Four A figure recently.  The paintjob wont win any prizes, but it looks like the subject ahould I think.  Its a Whiffwaff sculpt I think.

As can be seen by the photo with the (irritatingly shiny) Foundry figures below, ALF is a little larger than the ~1m that he should be I think, but its a fun and very recognisable character all the same.  The shine on the eyes looks a little bigger than it should due to the gloss and the lighting.

I plan to use ALF as part of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitorial retinue at some point in 2013.  I reckon that I can squeeze the figure into a variety of games to be honest.

It might not win any prizes (in your opinion) but that is a very nicely painted ALF  :-*. The base is lovely too.

Stop being humble and accept some well deserved praise :D

Heh!  Thanks Inso.  I will try (and likely fail) to sound less neurotic next time ;)

Still have not painted mine....

Excluding drying time that figure was extremely fast to paint.  I didnt time it, but it was only an hour or two.  If you wanted to you could get it done in the time it takes to watch Charlie & the Chocolate Factory or Raiders of the Lost Ark over the next week or so I reckon :)

Great job on a fun mini! What's that weird line across the torso and shoulders? I assume it's the sculpt... is it on the back too?

Thanks for the kind words folks :)

I have about fourteen 28mm house cat models knocking around for a few different reasons.  One is that I plan to add a cat model masquerading as a Gyrinx to a proposed Inquisitorial retinue that features ALF.  Some time in 2013 I hope.

Great job on a fun mini! What's that weird line across the torso and shoulders? I assume it's the sculpt... is it on the back too?

Thanks Mattias.  The line is part of the sculpt (as seen here) and goes around the back.  I have seen that sort of thing on furry models before, but I am not sure as to why furry models are sometimes sculpted like that.  I am sure that someone around here knows.

Melmacians come in a variety of colours it appears, which is tempting me to paint a few more of this model.  I will resist for the time being.

It may be deliberate.
Maybe the original ALF puppet was made like that....
