I saw The Pirates! Band of Misfits the other day. I mean, if you like amazing models and VSF, Id watch this. Its got an appearence by Queen Vic (gawd bless her!).

The plot is a bit silly, but the model making is so gorgeous and the VSF stylings abound that I can totally recommend it.

I have to agree with curtis. Well worth seeing unless you have some unhealthy aversion to claymation for some reason.

Supposedly also called 'The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!' Wiki claims it's the Brit title, and we lowly colonials are supposed to be seeing it as Band of Misfits...

Go figure.

Will be watching; I've enjoyed some seriously dreadful things when done in clamation. As long as the technique is even mildly satisfactory.

I'd recommend the books too - there's about 5 of them so far.

The books dont have really amazing models in them, unfortunately. I used to work at Aardman, on chicken run. Some of the sets were more realistic than places I have been in real life. We were allowed to wander around the set storage area. So many amazing models.

Damn - I thought there was a sequel, though it did seem a remarkably short time.

I thought Victoria's ship was fabulous - half VSF paddle-steamer, half brighton Pavillion - and would even recommend the movie to strange people who aren't potty about VSF.
