Braveheart diorama

Not really sure if this fits in here, but I'm giving it a try.
This is the last work I've done, a diorama depicting Braveheart (the movie, not the real character) at Stirling.
I used the Andrea Miniatrures 54mm. range. Great minis.



The tricky thing was painting the kilt, following the same pattern used in the movie



But I'm satisfied on the whole:

I've got to agree, great painting, but I'm Freddie Flintoff is Wallace (his name is likely of Welsh origin BTW) if Wallace ever looked like Mel Gibson in plaid!!

That's what movies have done to history, it's the constant debate of blessing/curse. . The diorama was a comission for a huge fan of the movie, so that drives through your decisions. Nevertheless, these superb quality minis are truly enjoyable to paint. All the Andrea ranges are high top.
I'm glad you like the tartan! It was my first time doing something like that, I was going nuts!

Beautiful painting, especially the subdued tartan, nd a lovely piece, however I think it a pity the manufacturers don't leave the base as plain earth and rocks though to allow you to use more realistic static grass, tufts etc as I think the moulded grass rather spoils the overall effect unfortunately no matter how good a job you make of painting it.

Thank you very much! I couldn't agree more about the grass issue. My greenstuff grass looks awful, though it was the only thing I could make out to fit the existant grass. I still have to improve a lot, I'm afraid, but it was also my first attempt so sculpt grass. Well, lesson learned.
