Its the last of the Dixons that I purchased a ton of at a very good price.  Next on the bench are Sash and Saber marching slouch hats, blanket rolls and right shoulder shift, 1st addition Old glory slouch hats and back packs RSS, Old Glory 1st edition mixed and bare headed RSS, Sash and Saber wounded falling and S and S dead on ground + commands will put them well over a houndred strong. I am going to paint a few of each bag that way I am hoping for a quicker yeild of figures and as to mix up the lines a bit before basing.

Nice work! I really like Dixon ACW figures. You are using hot glue to hold them in place, right? Is that sturdy enough? Do you have problem removing the figures from their supports when they are done?

I’m thinking about using the same method to hold my figures while painting but so far I’ve only use blu-tack… or white glue on smaller scale figures :?

I find it works very well, and dry in place almost as soon as you place them with the bond being secure with no issues of falling off even after sometimes dropping them on the floor. After the matt process they come off with a gentle pull.

Edit: But if using this method on plastic figures, of course you will use your hobby knife for removal.

I plan on mixing them with some other manufacturers models, so it might be a bit.

Edit: I will also be adding the new perry Confederates to this line up and all will be intermingled during the basing process.

I am originaly a diorama and scenic builder and I am still drawn to unique poses when I come across them and the dixon range has many of these types. I believe they will add a realism although not a necessity to the future gaming to be used in.

Hi

I paint Redoubt but the faces are nothing compared to Dixon lovely paint job they look like hard bitten vets , i would try and stand slightly taller as they walked past (and keep a hand on my wallet).

Lovely work

I am impressed with your painting of the figures.  I also liked the tip about hot glue to hold them to the painting bases.  I have not exploited hot glue for the many uses it can handle (furrowed field, tree trunks,etc.).  Thanks for posting you work!
