Dunedain and a Troll
« on: 29 January 2013, 10:21:56 PM »
Finally got these guys varnished yesterday, sticking to my vow to paint at least one model a week through 2013. Sorry for the brevity, but I've just finished work and need food! More words and images on the blog.

I really like how the troll came out.

And your clothes shadows are very well done too.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

Very nice miniatures. The yellow eyes on the troll work very good, must keep that i mind for my next troll. Love the little scenery with the miniatures in situ. Good atmosphere.

All the Lads/Thingies/Whatever are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. The Troll is my particular favorite in the group...nice eyes & a winning smile. VERY WELL DONE!

Same skin tone as I'm considering for mine. It's a lovely model and very well painted. Your terrain is looking rather spiffy too!

Thanks for all the comments: they are very much appreciated.

I've actually already started working on a tabletop, 'gang'-based supplement for the CC system. Play-testers are required, so let me know when you're available!

Nice work.
All of it, but the troll is really something else.

The troll is a great mini and is ringing a bell, but no recognition.
Where is it from?

Nice work on the troll. Reminds me, I've got him somewhere in the lead pile.

The Troll was one of two (see the other here) originally produced for Olley's Armies. The masters and production rights were subsequently acquired by Phantom Miniatures who stopped trading after a very short time. I was able to privately contact proprietor Francesco a year-or-so ago and manged to pick up both pieces very reasonably, but he appears to have since withdrawn his email from the Phantom site. I did express to him my hope that he would sell the masters on, but he didn't respond. I contacted Mr Olley himself and he rightly pointed out there's very little he can do. A great shame indeed if they are lost to posterity!

Thanks for the info, Mr F-F!

It is a shame that it is no longer available as it is a terrific sculpt.
