My first ever pulp figure....
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:52:20 AM »
Having a week off work I decided to try something new.I've always been a WW2 and COC buff, but when i saw the excellent stuff on the pulp forum i finally decided to paint one of my Copplestone castings jolly good chaps.I also bought the James Bond Gyro in TK Max in the bargain bin.See what you think?I'm usually a camo only bloke but really enjoyed this model.Any advice would be much apprieciated. Also an ideas on an arch nemesis for my daring hero?

Little Nellie! I love Little Nellie. I want one. Cool.

Sorry, we're supposed to be looking at the figures, ain't we. Top job. I have that Copplestone bloke, and painted him in a very similar style.

That's excellent.  :)  Little Nellie fits really well, too. Will you be repainting her? I think she maybe looks a little too modern for pulp games, but a suitable repaint wouldn't be too difficult.

Too modern? I consider Jimmy Bond to be Pulp (or at least has the Pulp feel to it). It sure ain't high-brow literature!

No argument there, Plynkes, I just think that the model in question is too shiny and new looking for the figure it's with.

Personally, I'd dirty it up and repaint it, maybe take off the rocket pods etc so it looked more 1920s in style.

Of course, if Marrony is just using the fig for scale, and planning a 1960s pulp spy caper, then I have proven myself to be an arse and will now shut up.

I know what you mean. She perhaps could do with griming up a bit. Actually would look rather spiffing in Luftwaffe camo for a Pulp World War game involving Indy or something like that.

Do you know, when I saw it my mind did start ticking over how to shoe-horn that thing into the club. Some of the members will be shown in later life with planes from other eras, so it could be a possibility.

Thats for the comments!! I think Jollybob is right about the shiney Nellie but is is straight out of the box without anything fiddled with.A lick of paint or weathering may be called for later.I just saw it in the shop and wasn't to sure it would fit 28mm but for £3.99 hey it's still a stonking buy.It comes with JB in the cockpit he is easily removed(i bet spectre wishes he was!!).Could be used for WWW2 i feel too.Maybe a para recon or air support? But it screams pulp to me especially with the many excellent pilot and gyro-figures about. Thanks Plynkes too for the ideas....maybe if i leave Nellie new maybe he could be a darng stunt flyer in a circus by day and works overtime fighting crime at night??? Argonor i love my ghouls....to be honest the Crocodile games one's seemed a bit cartoony in their advert but paint up really well! Don't eat for a few days and spend the money you save on a Nellie and some ghouls.

Very nice! The white on the sweater is excellent - I'm busy discovering how difficult white in larger scale figures can be... any pointers?

Nice painting there .
Is the Nellie the same one being given away with the James Bond Cars ? I'm thinking of ordering the whole collection just so I can get the T72 and Nellie.

Thanks for the comments.Wirelizard white is tricksy!!!! I used grey/light blue shading on a off white base with a dash of golden yellow to cream the main colour.Dan the Nellie is the one in the same range as the release of the other Bond stuff. When I bought mine there was the car out of Casino Royale and the really cool underwater white car too.I think Nellie looks canny in scale with 28mm.But the cars look a tad too big....but still cool though.

Only £3.99 ?

That seems jolly reasonable.

Did they have any more ?
