To rise it a bit: maybe shorten the wings about 1/3 + bit bigger whees in front?

Another option is to add an exhaust (from a jet model) and sling it under the fuselage. This will allow the back wheel(s) to be smaller (I think it looks better if the ones on the wings are larger).

My sincere hat's off to you and Blackwolf; in theme, it's an impressive hat trick to capture rolling stock from airframe, indeed!

My thought for images pre-paint was 'wait, that's pulp, that is', but it's crazy alt war or post-apocalyptic!

Back when 40K-themed course racing was big here, I thought a huge Ork-y vehicle would be perfect. I tried to take a 1/48 B-25, ditch the wings, and use the engine cover halves as wheel fenders. Those would have giving it a good 30's-40's feel, and plenty of openings for grot mechanics and gunners. Never could figure out the chopped tail, alas.

Many thanks Doug, much obliged.

B-25 would be a nice one to convert. Maybe cut the frame short bit after top gunner cupola, perhaps giving the vehicle a back ramp?

The engine cover halves as fenders is a great idea, I hereby state that I will try to steal that idea if I ever get my hands on B-25 or similar twin engine frame :) What kind of wheel placements you had in mind?

Been many years since I got a start on that; as I recall, the aircraft wheels descended out of the engine covers, and the openings on the 'halves' looked like good places for oversized half wheels.

I think I tried to just cut a 'plug' where the tail section (separate assembly in the model) came off; I had some grey Plastruct, and was carving to shape. Didn't realize that was the ABS stuff, and MUCH tougher to work with.  >:(

I did think about a 'balcony' on the back, with a mad-Grot with a pistol trying to plug on-comers, but that was a bit of the fevered dream of racing in those days.  ;)

Given it would be up against things like Eldar bikes and the like, it was more about trying to take out opponents who were lapping than actually leading the pack. Mind you, it WOULD have been painted red.

I'll see if I've still got the pieces...

Doug

Edit: I do remember I left the front cowlings off the engines, and was going to make headlights for the flat piece on the front fender out of styrene bubbles in soft drink lids. I don't recall if I had any plans for the rear one. And, yes, with the rear section off, it was shorter, but was still considering another 'chop job' mid-fuselage.

Really, I'm touched that it appeals to you. So many of my old ideas just don't translate to others. Thanks!

I was referring to your motor, sir.
It is bloody wonderful.
 :-* :-*

I have been admiring Mr Wolf's efforts in this direction for a while and will have a go at something similar myself soon as part of my spy-fi project.
Your motor is certainly providing some great inspiration.
Hats off to you, mate!

Scurv: Your input is certainly very useful when considering my future plans.
Thank you!

Doug: Lets keep our fingers crossed that you still have that B-25 and you can start working on it again!

Paul: Many thanks! Care to reveal which plance you will be using as the basic frame?

Will post pics of the finished LBAM tomorrow, better chance of getting ok pics during daylight hours. Been working on the walker also, more weathering promised to it tomorrow. Maybe I need to turn this into a general alternative WW2 / post-apoc thread in the end... if I manage to keep the flow, that is.

Antti: I have a Spitfire Kit that I am thinking of splicing with a Bentley.
Will just have to see if that will even work once I unpack my stuff after the move.

A couple of years ago on the way home after BLAM, Chillwind and I got to talking about games we could make and put on for a future BLAM. Many ideas were thrown about of course but one of the favourites was a high speed Dieselpunk game (We'd both read the Ketty Jay books at the time) with a bunch of cars attacking/robbing a train. Life meant no progress and it was shelved for future consideration....

I showed him your build and Blackwolf's earlier, might be time for that consideration to come back  :D

Wish I knew something about planes, it'd make choices easier.
So many projects..... so little time.......
