Battle of Formigny Blog - Update 09/03/21 more Longbowmen
« on: 12 February 2013, 10:38:49 AM »
Hi

I'm a long time browser of this forum but a new member! I have just started a new blog based around Thomas Kyriell's army at the battle of Formigny in 1450.

It can be found over at: http://formigny1450.blogspot.co.uk/

As I say in the blog, if you have any information on the liveries worn by the retainers of Kyriell, Gough etc. I'd be very grateful to hear it  :)

Cheers

Matt

Very interesting project - I just finished reading David Nicolle's 'The Fall of English France' (Osprey Campaign 241) which is a very good read and has a lot of good information on Formigny, including battlefield maps as well as some lovely colour plates by Graham Turner. Highly recommended if you haven't already got it.
Great work on the first retinue - lovely figure builds and beautiful painting.
(Thanks for the name check by the way  ;))

Cheers everyone!

Captain Blood - Yeah, I've picked that up. It's been really useful in this (though no livery in there sadly!)
No worries! Credit where credit's due  ;)

Like the conversions. Especially like the shouting figure. May be borrowing that one! Cheers.

Haha could well be  ;) I must admit I'm not a massive fan of that bare head - it just looks way too big for the body! He has too much hair!

Matt,

It's great to see this battle being covered as it's certainly a crucial but overlooked part of the HYW- especially on this side of the Channel!

Apart from the Osprey suggested by Captain Blood there isn't all that much written in English that I can think of that would help you with the liveries of the main persona.  I've got a fairly comprehensive list of liveries from from the HYW and WoR and their various owners so I'll have a dig and see if I can come up with anything for you. Fingers crossed!  :)

Darrell.
