I suppose it depends on the context; if it's an alien it's sci-fi, if it's a nature spirit it's fantasy (in very broadbrush terms). I had to look twice to see it though!

Could be used in fantasy and sci-fi as already mentioned.  But equally it could be the creation of a mad scientist in Pulp games, a Nazi creation in WWW2, something awful in the jungles/swamps of a lost island or continent and much more.

I too had to look carefully to see it.
Whatever it is, it looks like a fine beastie, and although not a fantasy stereotype, it could work beautifully in this context, and in practically any other (for West, think Rango  ;) ;D ).

Yes, i know the theme of the photo is a bit un-defined. The miniature is form Horder, if i remember coorectly (Thrull or Krull or something) and when i saw it immediately appealed to me because of the many possibilities. I recently purchased another supply of that lovely corkbark and perhaps will do another photosession and bring in some other miniatures.

Rango:

Chamaeleon = hard to see = Western spoof cartoon.
And I have not had enough coffee this morning, which explains this comment I made... :` :`
Can we see more pics of the beastie please? I'd like to see it in profile.

Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide. No escape from reality. Open your eyes. Look up to the skies and seeeeee...

Sorry, your post title reminded me of Bohemian Rhapsody!  ;)

I dunno, but I like it!

There's that many genres you can shoehorn fantasy into as has been said already that it doesn't really matter - sci-fantasy, Pulp (1930's-ish fantasy?), etc.

Just depends what you call it - demon, alien, mutant, spirit, failed experiment, etc.

Oh well Thantsants, i really like that...the reference to song of Queen (greet band by the way). A while back i posted some topics on here with titles that were songtitles from Joy Division. And yes it is a failed experiment....i mean the picture  8)

My own belief is that this is Napoleonics.

It's a plastic French lancer who fell down the back of a radiator on a cold day.

Having received a total of four turned down jobapplications you have succeeded in lifting my spirit. But then again, you do all your own stunts  8)
