EOTD + CiC Warbands
« on: 22 February 2013, 02:33:42 PM »
With all the EOTD Kickstarter hype I've painted my Lycaon gaming gang. It's based on the official Westwind boxed release but I've kicked out one of the tiny wolves and added two new wolves from Otherworld.
I also went for a SOT3rdR (that's Secrets of the 3rd Reich...) Werewolve as a leader. It's a much meaner model.

The gang setup is organised for campaign play, there are more models than you can fit into a 150 shillings gang and I've optimized the weapon options a bit.
The basic startup for Lycaon would be one Beastlord (leader) and a Packmaster (lesser werewolve). You can new werewolf models if a wolfskin advances in the cause of the campaign. So there's already a spare model. The werewolves can't use equipment so this saves some headaches.

You add a number of wolfskin models for support and fill the gang. These have weapon options which are pretty weak compared to what the other factions can get. I've converted one model to carry a hand weapon and a shield plus a bow so he can move&fire and fight in close combat. Same for the guy with throwing knifes who also has a hand weapon and a shield. The other two are fine as they are even though I regard the crossbow as pretty useless in game terms. The small wolve can be used as 5th wolfskin equipped with claws of the wolven.

Finally two wolves can be added to fill the gang up. Wolves can't advance but they can suffer permanend injuries, a strange rule for campaign play.

The complete gang comes at around 220 shillings without further advances. This should do the trick for most games.

Pictures especially for thebinmann who asked in the KS thread.

Great colour choices. I've just recently completed my two wolves from this section but went with a more brown scheme. How did you do yours up? i'd be curious to hear to see how your process differed from mine.

I'm in for a 35+5 deal and maybe a coach or two, everything else would blow the budged. Still eyeing the nickstarter, too. o_o

Brown is also a good sheme and I think might be a bit more realistic. I painted my black and then drybrushed a couple of layers of grey onto the parts that should be a bit more light.

I love the level of contrast you achieved between the skin and the fur on the wolfmen.

The first of my french monster hunters for CiC:
These are mainly Westwind Models from the Wolfen Jäger pack. The one in yellow jersey is the leader of the group. French hunters are a very flexible group because they can field a "hunter" as well as a "slayer". The one with torch and sword is the hunter (he has a rifle slung over his back) and the model with the grey cloak is the slayer. The model with blunderbuss is an expedition member.
The warband alo has 2 hunting dogs. These dogs are trained by the monks of the brotherhoods especially for the fight against supernatural creatures and are very rare and expensive. You wouldn't want to meet one of them in a dark alleyway.

The warband also consists of a number of hired local helpers which will be featured later one.
