New to group and looking for a game
« on: 09 April 2008, 02:13:41 PM »
Hi there all, I live in Pickering, Ontario, Canada and I want to play pulp style games :)
Hvae minis, Terrain and a place to play, now just need players or people willing to run them :)
Interests are Warlord of Mars, Pirates and clasic pulp stuff :)
I play D&D right now and some 40K and bllod bowl (Please do not hold that against me :) but the guys I hang with seem reluctant to try it.
I am painting up some US marines and some Germans 28mm so I can use them against some Zombies ;)
cheers\all

Can I suggest .45 Adventures and "Amazing War Stories" or would that be unseemly?

I LOVE Blood Bowl. I haven't played in 10 years, but I always thought it was an exceptionally well designed game. Not sure if it's been mucked up by GW over the years or not. I'd love to get my hands on the original board sometime.

Another Blood Bowl fan here, we had a few matches today to kick off a new league.  :)

I'll second the recommendation of .45 and Amazing War Stories for smaller, multi-player games and add in Nuts! and ATZ from Two Hour Wargames for bigger battles.

For Pirates, Gloire/Under The Black Flag and Legends of the High Seas both look great.

Pulp is .45 again or Legends of the Old West here, both a great and give a different feeling to the game.

I have most of the rules you mentioned but neither the players or the person wanting to run them :(
As for Blood Bowl, it always gets mucked up by GW but its still ok. I find it takes a long time to play 2 hours sometime but it can be fun with the right people. Our legues is small but people in it are fine :) I have a Skeven team and a Lizardman team.
I have .45 Demo Amazing Warstories and Gloire and the demos of Fatastic worlds. Also have Amazing Adventures by my friend Howard Whitehouse :)
