cake drums (boards)
« on: March 04, 2013, 03:38:14 PM »
anyone know what the stands you put cakes on are made of?

eyeing 6milphils arena in a tin and stumbled on some 12" round cake drums while wistfully googling for suitable containers... wouldn't have the fancy sides of 6milphils, but would be a good sturdy base that I wouldn't have to cut myself... assuming it's made from something sturdy of course...

I believe they are made from solid cardboard covered in a foil like paper. I would have thought they are designed to withstand warping, because their purpose is to have a moist cake sitting on top of them, but that is an assumption.
