EOTD Faction help
« on: 08 March 2013, 04:08:51 PM »
Hey folks,

Having backed EOTD's Kick starter for Requiem 35+5 level, I find myself pouring over the lists of figures I want. Having never read the rules aside from quick Holmes and Ripper scenario on the West Wind site, I'm a bit stymied.

I figure on getting London Bobbies 1+2 and PC Boots for 18 points. Almost half way there.

I really like the look of the armed brothers and gentlemen with guns. However, I don't have either of the original boxed sets.

However, that would leave me with 3 human factions.

I guess I looking to see what you all plan to spend your points on for those new to EOTD or what factions do you already use?
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

It depends because if your planning a campaign game then figures can be upgraded over time so you might want alternative models as the factions rise and fall. Or if you want to play one off points games and tool up your factions. it depends on what you want to do with it.

If you make one of your human factions the Darkfire club they can be evil and raise zombie mobs...which is always fun I think. I have the original four box sets and was planning on doing that. The werewolves are neutral, the brothers are good, vampires evil and humans can be whatever you like.

There's no reason you have to use models for what they were intended - apart from Brother Peter, the Armed Brothers will work very well as a monastic order of Vampire Thralls in a Nosferatu Gang with the addition of a Vampire or two.

The only thing I would say is that you probably need a couple more miniatures to make the Gentlemen with Guns work as a faction.

Personally, in your position, I'd consider the Vampire Slayers. I know it's not clear what they are, but there's a good chance that either or both of the Fallen Woman and the Lost Love will be vampiric, and the other miniatures in the set would fill out your Gentlemen's Club.

Having said that, I also think that a good option is to simply choose the models you like the look of and get creative in how you fit them together when you have the rules in front of you.

I knew I forgot a line. If I went with the armed brothers and gentlemen with guns, I would have to add the original boxed sets. IE. Up my pledge.

That's a great idea especially with the current stretch goal of Tatu (vampire).

Thanks, I wasn't aware of the darkfire club.

The models I will be choosing are based on which models I like the look of the best. But three all human factions just seemed off to me.

Not really you can equip your faction as you please so they could start with those weapons if you wanted.

I use Watson from the Holmes and Watson set for EotD to fill out my gentlemen faction.

Maybe not technically HAVE to add but the OCD collector in me would HAVE to add the whole faction  ;).

Any more ideas?

The aforementioned ones have given me loads to think about but I'm a glutton for punishment.  lol

At the minute I have all the existing factions and have bought other mini's from various other makers to make some themed factions using them as proxies (criminals, Ghurka Monster hunters).

You could get by quite easy and pick the sets up after.

I'm thinking of getting the brothers and using them as the Darkfire club in ceremonial robes...
