need some miniatures for a new very small scenario...
« on: March 11, 2013, 02:57:18 PM »
Ok,

for some strange reason, one day a month ago while walking to college to meet some Luftwaffe/Bundeswher/RAF officers I had an idea on my mind about a new set of linked scenarios for a mini Force on Force action set in a slightly alternate 2015... (yes quick breakfast and 'secret' meetings produces weird result. After 4 weeks of trimming later...  Anyway short description...

2015, Russia is involved in an hot cold war (increased border clashes with full spectrum of weaponry) with the PRC and the West. A specialist in airplane archeology working for a small US college to procure and refurbish warbirds  (do not ask me why... just got an idea based on Indy and me...) is tasked by a shady female  corporate manager from Shanghai (yes i know I have this thing with pretty asian girls... but lets face it the prettiest actresses at the moment are Chinese/Korean/Japanese  :o ) to retrieve t rare HE-111Z (the Zwilling is indeed rare...) that has been found in a war torn Central Asian republic. The deal is the college take the bird for its collection (and a substantial donation) and she get some belongings of her family that the IJA and Germans stolen during the War of Resistance. After several less than pleasant happenings during the investigation (that make him doubting about the motives, identity, and nature of the sponsor...) our Indy clone finally located the wreck and is ready to lead an expedition there... only to find more troubles. In the end there will be road ambushes by insurgents, camp attack by Russian SoF and a finall assault to an hidden compound.... luckily for the expedition our Indy-clone had the habit to always inform the proper authorities of his enterprises so the cavalry come to the rescue...

Anyway cut the setting and here is the biiiig question... I need some specific 28mm miniatures for some of the guys/gals involved.

1) I need the Indy-clone. Perfectly it will be dressed in para-military attire with and indy hat (but this is not absolute) and maybe armed with some conventional SMG (MP5) or pistol.

2) I need the main antagonist. Someone to lead my Russian SOF, but dressed and equipped in a way to mark as non russian-military.

3) I need the shady female corporate CEO and her pretty assitant who accompanied the expedition. They have to be pretty, dressed in suitable paramilitary attires (looking fashionable even in combat fatigues) and being armed. If the facial features could pass as Asian it is a plus.

4) Could I need some paramilitary contractor too? (Finding an excuse for the newest Kostas sculpt).

5) You think and USAF SOF colonel with P-90 could fit into that mess?

Sounds fun!

1) Maybe one of the Hasslefree adventurers/zombie hunters (Grant, Ken, Nick, etc), possibly with added hat?

2) Copplestone castings KKBB KGB men (Maybe a bit too retro?) or one of the bad-guys with guns (2 of them look quite eastern european, and used to provide muscle for my Russian Mafia gang)

3) Hasslefree again? Copplestone does some female near future troopers, but they are fairly obviously near future and possibly a bit butch for what you're describing...

4) PMCs sound fine for the shadowy CEO to use for double crossing, or to be wheeled in to add some fire-power to 'notIndy' and co against the Russian SoF?

5) I see no reason why not :) Old friend of notIndy's perhaps, along for one last adventure before retirement?

I will look in the minis ASAP (already looked around at Hasslefree). The PMC will be used as comic relief until the real cavalery arrives in one of the scenarios, plus they can double as SOF. The CEO is shady, but not so double-crosser as long her objective are meet. She is shady but she is on the blue team... and lets face it, the last scenario has M1A2...  (It will be done in two versions, several smaller 28mm mil ones and one large 15mm for the big battle!)  the room for double crossing is quite limited...

Colonel O'Neal (sorry Deano...) will figure as guest star leading the US rescue missions when the Russian got involved heavily. After all an USAF brigadier had control over Anaconda in real life.

Have you looked at the Street violence range (Wargame foundry)? I think you can found something useful.

Reaper do an Indy clone Frank Buck

There's possibly something in their chronoscope range that would fit some of the others as well.

Some comments on the suggestions...

1) Frank buck is spot on as Indy...but Dr. Henry Bumblejones Junior tends to work more on mlitary fatgiues when on the field for special expeditions; one the other hand Nick looks perfect, the new optional MP5SD even better (in the description Bumblejones is said to use the same weapon). The pose is also perfect:

'The only difference between them was that Lee Choon-Hee was looking sexy even in full combat attire, while Henry Bumblejones junior looked just… bumbling.'

2) uhm the KGB types looks nice, but again this is a for a Force on Force scenario so i would expect mr. Yuri Golov (former Yuri von Hassledorf) special consultant to the FSB and GRU to be dressed more in a paramilitary attire to led the the special Task force he has assembled to recover 'The Box' and 'The Key'

3) ook... hardest part... some of the heads from Hasslefree modern adventures are great for miss Yin Dai-Tai (CEO) and Miss Lee Choon-Hee (ok used a name generator to avoid using the Chinese and Korean names I know...). Female Spy from reaper is nice but would fit in a seal team operation? Tomoko from Hasslefree is almost perfect but I need a real gun... I do not know if i am avble to modify the mini by my self. Summer from Hasslefree would be also good, but she is dressed to lightly. Of course I am open to ideas... and also restricted by availability...

32mm tall... mhmmm.... getting worried last time I did fall for it is just small scale creep I ended up with black scorpion giant marines... but these minis look good...

for the main antagonist I am thinking of him:

http://www.hfminis.co.uk/shop?product=demon~hfa105&category=miniatures~modern-adventurers

with the AS VAL...

already have a complete and painted collection of Empress SAS! So I am ready. I think I have settled everything except the two girls... umphf... but on the other hand some of the separate heads from statuesque are cracking good... a bit of surgery on hasslefrre? From the comparison shot they seems doable...

There's a few good females in the Copplestone Castings Future Wars range that would pass for modern:

Crooked Dice's Pandora King might be useful?
