Not sure about the rust colour nor the chunky rock - given that this is The Green Knight more green the better and a forest floor like base may be best. Always loved this mini but hated the afterthought banner bits on his back always looks better without these and always felt it typical of the company that can't be named that they always overdo things.

Not sure about ... the chunky rock

The colour of the rock or the shape/style? I went rock hunting out in the bush. It's amazing what rocks and shapes you can find. Even one that fits a GW cavalry base perfectly!

always looks better without these

Yeah I totally agree. Mine are ghost energy poles with rusted spear tips anyway. Probably a little hard unless I had ghostly banners. Plus buying figures off E-bay means you don't always get a full set ;)

Thanks, thats very kind! I think I need to run my paints thinner, and keep my brushes sharp. It got a bit messy. I was trying to layer for the first time on this fig, and I'm pretty happy how it turned out. (especially at table height.. but it's no golden demon winner ;) ) Hot summers tend to dry out the paints pretty quickly ive found out!

He looks very nice. Definitely more ethereal!

What do you guys think? Do i need to add anything? More Shrubberies?

What about something with a bit of colour at the base of the rock? Maybe a bush with some flowers or just coloured shrubbery? Or even some ivy? I just think the all-green works really well on the figure, but the scenery would look even better with some colour to contrast with the mini. Maybe some water, too (even just a trickle between the rocks at the front of the base) - I always picture unicorns, pegasi, the Fae Enchantress, all that stuff, near water :)

But it does look great like that too!

Very nice work - I'd probably put a tuft or too of longer grass in a contrasting colour on the base. Some flowers would be good too.

How about putting some small but long pennants at the top of his surfeit of banner poles/energy poles ( lol) - dunno if it'd work but how about using some gauzy, see-through material and repeating the green pattern from the horse's barding?

Well Silfor is fantastic and has such a wide range. I bought a few small packs to give them a try. I bought mostly 4mm, but probably could have upped it to 6mm quite easily. Oh well, you win some and loose some.

What do you think about the cute little white and purple flower meadow he's standing in now? Unfortunatley there is no path between the 2 tiers of shrubbery lol. I imagine the flowers grow on the grasses near the forest edge (which is where the blighter tends to hide ;)) as he looks down onto a grassy plain. Horses don't like fighting in thick woods apparently...  lol

Thats the answer!
 :) :-* :)

They contrast nicely with the colours on the knight itself.
