HorrorClix-Modern Zombie Conversions
« on: October 30, 2006, 06:53:23 PM »
Hi all,
Anyone who knows me, will be aware of my habit of converting miniatures into modern zombies ( OK it's an obsession!!!). This is mainly due to a lack of modern zombies on the market and also because I am a bit of a nutter!
I have been collected the HorrorClix range and in amongst them there are some zombies. These are WAY TOO BIG to mix with the rest of collection as they are so I decided to convert a couple!

The first is a female zombie. She is incredibly tall and would tower over my other stuff if I had left her alone. I decided her legs were too long and so cut them off and replaced them with some legs from a Copplestone biker. Her right hand was missing so I found a doner mini and repositioned her left arm.

The second conversion was much easier. I used the horrorclix Zombie lawyer. He was also far too big! I cut off his legs and shortened his thighs. I also cut of his arms from the sleeve down and shortened his forearms. Finally I repositioned his head.

I think the finished results look OK and I've got two more "unique" zombies to add to my horde!

If anyone's interested there are a few more conversions ( Including mother and baby, zombie in a wheelchair and rock band) here:

To do the rock band as zombies is a great idea!

Are the tears and holes in the flesh only painted or did you cut it in the figures?
"I'd like to send this letter to the Prussian consulate in Siam by aeromail. Am I too late for the 4:30 autogyro?"
"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

The tears in the skin are "Cut" into the figures.
What I tend to do is cut a large area out and fill it with green stuff. I then cut into that and peel it back.
The arm on one of the Rock Band ( guitarist with the guitar behind his back) I used a skeleton arm ( GW)  and covered it in green stuff. I then peeled some of it back to expose the "bones".
I find using this technique better then just cutting holes straight into the mini.

Somehow I find the phrase "unique zombies" to be bizarre.

Great conversion work and painting, though. I´m not really into zombies, but those are cool.

I use the word "unique" because I prefer my shamblers to all be different, rather than have loads of zombies which look the same. Just like the living, they are all individuals!
I kind of think of it like grabbing 100 people off the street. You would have people of different ages, sex ,race and they would be dressed differently. I prefer this to ALL the zombies looking the same and wearing rags. I haven't got any "doubles" in my collection! This is also why I do "theme" zombies like the guy in the wheelchair and the mother and baby, because they represent people you may see in the street.
