Well, in my ongoing quest for the best way to make cobbles I decided to bite the bullet and ordered some of the bobbled faux leather. It arrived today and I have to say I'm impressed although the price makes me twitch. The texture isn't as deep as I hoped but it should still take a drybrush I think. I'll try it out and post something in my thread.
So many projects..... so little time.......

What, are you saying we didn't have to hand-carve the whole table plus most houses?  :-I

FKSN -NICE! I especially like the random rubble stonework on the yellow building.

Nope, just spend £60 on ebay for enough to do a 6x4 table and some spare.

For my needs, I bought a pack of Plastruct's "Polished stone" sheets for 16€. Pricy, but it comes with two sheets which should suffice for the basing of dozens of minis. The sheet I got was G-scale (1/24) so the individual stones are a bit large and thus look more like flagstones than cobbles, but a little exaggeration makes it a) easier to paint and b) more visually distinctive.
