Seriously though, less of a mountain man more of a freakishly red-haired and well armed modern day version of Goldilocks.

Surrendered when he realized he could die...  Seems it was good police work and a commitment to capture instead of kill the criminal.

A burglar/thief resisting arrest really doesn't send that Mountain Man ethos as much as a sense of anti-social criminality.  YMMV.

Not a role model to be emulated IMHO.

As an ex-LDS (even had the temple recommend) excommunicated person who still has family in that faith I think this is could turn really inappropriate very easily.  Can we agree to let this part of the thread stop here?

British police seem to have a thing about punching in holes in anyone even if they are suspected of being armed

Oh totally the man shouldn't be emulated at all, but i just think it was an interesting character if nothing else. When I lived on the Idaho/Washington border. We would have Vagabond, or survivalist types come back into town on occasion. Stank to high haven.
And I am not knocking LDS dude. I Also got family who are LDS (Mom). Just pointing out my experience in dating a few girls from the wards.
