VBCW/Interwar Ladies
« on: April 11, 2013, 11:26:45 PM »
There is a poll on Very British Civil Forum at the moment about "Would you buy packs of 28mm VBCW Female Militia figures if they were sculpted by Mr Paul Hicks."

Gentlemen!

Bungle and Smillie are pondering a project at the moment and would welcome your most esteemed voting, and thoughts if you have them within this thread.

The question is if Mr Paul Hicks were to sculpt packs of ladies in interwar era dress armed with Rifles and the usual assortment of LMG/NCO Officer type figures would you buy them.

If you think you would genuinely buy the figures (not just think its a good idea) please vote as appropriate.

Here is a link for the poll http://vbcf.freeforums.org/vbcw-interwar-ladies-t1456.html

Please check it out, comment, support or both

There is already a Kickstarter running for VBCW female militia figures, and Lacepunk.

I think the aim is different as they are going for a more civilian look, you know women is dresses and suits rather than a uniform.

I would happily buy well-sculpted female militia figs for this period!  Ideally I'd like to see women who look like "real" women soldiers, that is, sculpts that aren't excessively "femmed up" (i.e without the exaggerated cleavage one often sees in female figs in other ranges), but also not at the opposite extreme - I've seen ranges of women pirates & others where they try so hard for "realism" that the women look downright ugly.  Just some ordinary-looking women who are in militia gear and ready to do some extraordinary things!

I would be more interested if they did not have weapons actually.  The same for males of the period too for that matter.

I would buy a few, no doubt, for my M.O.O.S.(E). project, but also Svennn's idea of more civilians is a good thing too.

I guess that means I am a 'Yes!'.

I would buy them if they had some historical use, ie being fairly generic/civilian or resemble historical women in arms. It should though be noted that there is already a number of female Hicks sculpts in the Empress SCW ranges...

Simply dressed in Monos/Coveralls would suit me.

From the FFI uprising in Paris in August 1944, when open fighting broke out between the Resistance and the Germans as the Allies approached the city. Ever since seeing the photo as a child in a book about resistance movements, partisans and spies, I have been rather captivated by it. I thought that girl with the machine gun was impossibly cool, and I still kind of do.  :)
