These are both fantastic. The hardest choice I've had to make voting wise.

The sickle in the fruitful field;
The sword he sung a song of death,
But could not make the sickle yield."

Wow.
Both brilliant.
Patrick - superb brushwork as ever.
Curt - that is a very daring entry, but wonderfully executed.
Well done to both of you.

as said .. both entries are brilliant!
I went for the black&white theme, though. If it wasn't for the red cap I nearly thought the entry would have been a black&white pic. Since it is such a close shave, I like to honor that by letting it influence me to the final decision.  :-*
Also, though I think, the "Scoobys" were done with great colors, I also think, that it is far more difficult to put on such a great impact just with a black&white thing. Marvelous!

best wishes - thanks to both!

Wow!  Thelma has got her high beams on!  Amazing painting on the scooby bunch...and the Great War figures are amazing as well...what a fun idea.

Cheers,

The toughest choice so far - you both deserve my vote.

Great work from both painters.

Man, Chambers, your stuff always looks fantastic up close- you always have the most crisp photos in the competition.

That grayscale entry is haunting and clever. Very cool!

Thank you all very much for the kind words - it's much appreciated.

Chambersofminiatures: I love your Scooby Gang, especially that badass Velma - brilliant stuff.

I realize my entry is somewhat 'in the margins' and will most likely be trounced but it comes from a project that is close to my heart and I thought I'd put it forward as an entry.

I've always wanted to try my hand with a greyscale project similar in concept to Carmen's excellent '30 pulp adventure and Vikotnik's brilliant Nosferatu works. I chose the Great War as a theme as it seemed well suited to the stark greyscale treatment and there are so many amazing figures available for the period (@former user: the rank-and-file are from Great War Miniatures whereas the officer is an Artizan Design model).

If interested, there are some more pics from the project (along with a somewhat long-winded description) here:

Thanks again!

Both entries deserve to win!

Unfortunately I have to choose only one  :(

The toughtest match of round 2 IMO.

Good luck to both of you.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

@Curt - I read a bit into Your "long winded" introduction  ;)
and I find it intrigueing, interesting and remarkable. I have rarely encountered wargamers who by their "hobbywork" would make such a strong statement and comment about the fact that we are gaming war. I think Your project should be exhibited, at least virtually. I will follow with great interest.

As everybody said very difficult choice. Two great entries that would have easily won if opposed to lot of others.
Very unfair for voters.
