Also do not forget that, one of the main resins for China's increase in military spending is to have a bigger footprint in Africa also. So you can conceivable have China doing covert ops or sustainability operations over there.
Or Just an old bash from the past, and border fight with the Russian Federation,

Good point. Count me in for some Chinese as well as the Indians.

Frankly, I think an Empress Kickstarter will blow the roof off.  I think they could pretty much pick whatever theater they wanted, and they will make a killing (and some incredible minis!)  Cant wait.

Well thanks to everyone who took the time to comment, especially the useful ones  lol

We are in the deep planning stage and from these comments the range will cover even more troop types than originally planned. Sadly no Vietnamese troops though  ;)

The Kickstarter should hit the world in a few weeks.

Regards,

Paul and all at Empress :)

I was discussing this with some colleagues... you know what is interesting? The Chinese are silent. I have to ask my two PLA friends if they want to comment, but, despite by longstanding support of an allied India... recently India is doing weird things that are setting weird precedents. Kindapping Italian naval infantrymen, accusing China to have violated the Indain territory (but with no backings).

Well my hunch is that this time the Chinese are right...

Probably my thoughts are not accurate in terms of "actual" conflicts, but...most of us creates our own campaigns for modern war, so a new range of Russians (with empress stunning detail level) would be awesome. Modern Warfare style Russians are a nice start point...and probably could be used as generic troops with AK-M.

Red Box already do a nice range of russians- it's not a massive range, but the sculpts are nice. I think Empress could do well to do some N.Koreans or Chinese. no one else is doing those.

The Red Star Russians are now pretty out of date for standard Russian regulars; considering they are meant to represent a conflict that happened about 22/23 years ago, things have changed much since then.

Not saying they would be useless; they would fit in perfectly as Second Line troops, militias, Home guard style units. Although Russia is practically reshaping its Army (Its troops now will be using the alternative material AK74M, AEK and AN-94 depending on the division/role of that unit, they will have new helmets, body armour and new camo, which is a dark green digi-camoesque attempt, though that could have changed since) it will still retain or rely on a large body of 'reservists' who will practically have all the older equipment dumped on them.

Also no one does any good modern Spetznaz.

Well the Red Star Russians were tailored fro Grozny 2 (maybe someone missed that one in all the wars  :D well it is Caucasus we can miss one... )... that was what the guys from Red Star told me. The kit is pretty up to date compared with whom I have seen in real (opposed to nice parade ground) equipment. It fit well with the pictures form the late Ives Debay. And I will be obnoxious and picky... equipment is not depending on division, plus spetsanz uniform, again outside parade ground, tend to be a bit of mix and match.

I am, not keen in seeing Empress doing a thing that they are already selling and a cracking good product by the way. Better to see something new. I am also a bit loath of all these people 'do this, do that' without regards for economics. Let's see what the Empresses, Paul, and Keith have prepared for us and how it sells.

The Russian's never throw anything away, I don't think they understand the term "out of date"  lol

But you are probably right the Red Star guys are probably more Category B Units than the best equipped Category A guys.
