Sorry Dirk, my Work In Progress (WIP) Vietnam rules. One of the guys I game with (2 games in about 8 months is regular for me) reckoned that coming up with a decent Vietnam game wasn't possible as it was an inherently dull and repetitive genre. It's a period I've always fancied gaming so I have taken this as a challenge and have been working on rules since early last year. It's partly inspired by the card play in the boardgame 'Twilight Struggle' and allows the Communist player to utilise counters.
I don't know the boardgame "TS". I think I will try Victory Decision SciFi (Low Tech) for Modern Stuff (even Vietnam). Maybe I also love the Vietnam stuff because I grew up with Platoon, Rambo and Full Metal Jacket. But over here it isn't easy to find players for modern stuff

Twilight Struggle is a rather good game based on the Cold War. I'd definitely recommend it.

Judging by the photos of the M-ATVs Bob Winward is producing new models for Empress. That is good news.

I received my PLA yesterday. They look pretty good to me. Have to clean them up soon or they will join the island of forgotten lead. (That island seems to be growing a lot lately.)

So... now people are getting these, does anyone have advice on paint colours to use for PLA camo?

I am planning to go for something like this:

Base colour: Foundry Vivid Blue, light, with a dash of Foundry Rawhide, Light
Blue: Foundry Tomb Blue, Shade
Green: Foundry Storm Green, mid-tone
Sand: Foundry Base Sand, mid-tone
Followed by a wash of GW Agrax Earthshade to add shadow.
May not be strictly accurate but I have seen many variations of this scheme, and I am basing my project on a future conflict so I canbe a bit more imaginative, and most Important it will make the two sides more recognisable on the battlefield.

Here are some more colour variants
From Airsoft Canada
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=133939&page=2

left to right: urban digital, used by all four forces; tibetan camo, used by army(tibetan region) and air force(paratroopers)

left to right: for 2nd artillery force (nuclear missile troops); for army and air force; prototype, 3rd camp didn't issue to any of the forces; for navy and marines

I plan to use the Urban Digital scheme.  The light grey base is distinctive.

Thanks elysium64 and Mick_in_Switzerland.

My research has turned up similar photos - I'm going to go for the type 07 "general" camo pattern I think (the version to the left in Mick's first picture).

I did a bit of experimentation with paints last night, and I think I want either Pale Blue or Pale Greyblue from Vallejo for the base. Unfortunately, I don't have either, so there'll be a trip to my FLGS at lunchtime I think!

I'm thinking maybe German Fieldgrey and Reflective Green for the other colours in the pattern, maybe with dabs of German Grey (although I might miss that off because there doesn't seem to be much black in it, and at 28mm scale it might need to disappear altogether).

Figuring out how to actually paint pixellated patterns will be next, I suspect it really just needs to be fairly square blobs.
