The city of Rome for a Historicon game
« on: May 02, 2013, 04:27:52 PM »
I am doing a alt history/weird science game set in the Year of the Four Emperors at Historicon this year.  Part of the battle will take place in the city of Rome.  I've posted some pictures on my blog:

Funny idea, lovely setup. Where are all these buildings come from?

Most are scratch built from scrap beaded styrofoam or foamboard.  There are a couple of buildings from the Game Craft middle eastern foamboard and MDF line that I modified a bit.  There is one small temple to the right of the Capitoline Hill in the picture that is a resin model I bought - I forget the manufacturer.

The statuary are just plastic figures of various scales.  The columns are dowl rods or plastic cake decorations.

Wow - looks great. Interesting sounding game - maybe a little TOO weird for my liking but...

Very nice setup. I am jealous of anyone who can make styrofoam look that good! I purchased a kit and can never get enough control to make convincing brickwork.

I've started another thread on the Weird Wars board to discuss some of the models of "inventions" that will be in the game:

Just noticed the ships in the background. They look just as excellent as the table!

WOW!
Historicon always has some of the best terrain.  I think because of the set up and take down rules.
