The founding of the town of Dead Man's Hand
« on: May 13, 2013, 08:42:48 PM »
Loads of detail on the blog - http://www.greatescapegames.co.uk/dead-mans-hand/hobbybuildingtheset - but a few piccies here. I'm doing 2'x2' sections, adding more as more of the DMH/4Ground buildings are released.

A few more pics to come.

Very cool, looking forward to this.  I do hope more walkways are available separately at some point.

While I'm sure you guys are holding your hand rather close to your chest - is there a rough estimate on how many buildings the DMH line will contain?  I'm hoping to fill my entire town with DMH stuff (it's easy enough and I love the product).  I love the work you're doing on the board.  I travel too much to have set-boards (small car).  I'm actually struggling to find a good quality roll-up mat.  I'm tired of my Hotzmat.

Next release rumour, as yet unconfirmed, in June:

Two more buildings (one a "feature" building).
And an accessory pack.
Walkway packs are on the list.

Total number of eventual buildings for the DMH line I cannot say, except to say that we plan to release at least 8 more this year at current estimates. However, I hope that this number is exceeded. I know that the guys at 4Ground have an extensive list of Old West buildings they want to do.

Cool, that's all I need to hear.  Sounds good.  I like the modular way you're planning on running the boards.  The boards and buildings both being modular will work quite well.

I do hope though that later buildings will not all conform to the exact same size bases etc.  With 8 or more other buildings I imagine we'll see a variety of footprints.

Looks great so far! I really like how the combination of paints and pigments looks on the board. I will echo elbows with the admonishment that all the buildings should not have the same footprint. Although I understand the logic, especially when you are working in some form of CAD, Buildings with at least different lengths will create more "cubbyholes" for our miniatures to hide in.

Although you could achieve that with some form of add-on structure that could be attached to any building. That's the way I remember my grandpa's farmhouse growing. They would build a porch, then eventually it would get walled in to form a new room and another porch would get built.

I can deal with the five I have - since roofs are different, and you have varying heights (floors etc.) but yeah, eventually I'll need some new footprints.  Heisler, I had a buddy who's Great Uncle's farm was similar.  It was four or five different additions which slowly became melded into one big building.  Pretty cool.  Though being tall and lanky I've never banged my head or toes so many times in a weekend. lol

Loving these and they sit very well with my existing Battleflag stuff. I too am looking forward to alternative footprints, these are easily the most well designed terrain I have seen yet.
Love the rule too. had a first go on saturday and I found it fun and speedy.
Looking forward also to the campaign stuff and character progression.

A good shot of the boardwalk sections with strategically placed tufts and flowers. The kits are designed so that the buildings overlap and sit perfectly on the boardwalks.
