Superglue / Cyanoacrylate Question
« on: 15 May 2013, 02:29:16 PM »
This is a shot in the dark..

Does anyone know of a superglue that doesn't 'cloud' clear plastic etc, like the standard ones do? I've done some Google searches without much luck but I'm sure there must be something available?

I'd need it available in/to the UK as well (in case shipping might be an issue)

Cheers
Nick

I have never come across any.  I have heard of people using a hairdryer to blow the fumes away but have no idea how successful this is.  What do you want to stick?  Can you not use of the PVA bases glues such as Krystal Klear?

Two part epoxy used very carefully is about the only thing I think. As Svennn said it does depend what you need it for.

People making cars or planes miniature models are using Future Floor (or Klir in Europe/france) product to dip the clear part they want to glue, and then they are able to glue without cyano fogging.

Klir/Future can also be used to fix (not perfectly I'm afraid, regarding tests I made) already fogged clear plastics.

Here's some explanations of uses  you can do with Future (and also usefull diferent brands, depanding your country).

Scroll down on http://www.shop4glue.com/canopy-glue-clear-set-canopy-bond-model-kit-plane-boat-window-adhesive-clear-set-glazing-canopies-131-p.asp

One place to find it would be via your local model shop.  Just ask for canopy glue.

Ditto on this.  Canopy glue can also make small clear windows  within a window frame.

Isn't it the grease from your fingers that the glue clouds up? If you are careful not to get the plastic too messy and are sparing with the glue it should be ok?

Also good circulation helps I have found. Interior areas cloud up worse than "open" areas
