Airfix 1/32 Wild West
« on: 05 June 2013, 10:55:51 PM »
Just finished painting this batch of Airfix 1/32 Wild West figures as the start of a new project, which will probably be set on or near the Rio Grande, plenty of Apaches and Mexican bandits to come. First off some US Cavalry and Cowboys.

The figures are a lot more Hollywood than Historical, but what the hell, they are really nice poses and a lot of fun to paint.

They will not force us,
They will stop degrading us,
They will not control us,
We will be victorious!!

Freakin' gorgeous...and I used to have most of those toys as a kid.  What's the trick to keeping paint on them?  My father and I used to paint up some of our WW2 1/35 stuff and it always flaked off pretty bad (even after soaping).

Elbows, no trick as such, a good wash in lukewarm water and detergent, primed using GW Spray, then an undercoat of a brown wash, paint using acrylics and finally varnish using GW purity seal, and hope the paint stays on, so far so good.

Wow, those are great. Now you just need some buildings to go with them.

Whoooa! They take me back to the 1970/80s!  :)

I had all of these and they were well used.

Excellent painting, they have come up really well ;D

Excellent paintwork, reminiscent of Captain Blood's ultra high contrast earlier work.  8)
