Being totally absorbed by all that genitalia I forgot to say you present a spledid display, Plynkes. Great PJ and a gorgeous groupshot which reminds me of the glory days of LAF.

Personally I hold the opinion that Lady LAF's glory days are still ahead of her. I know that I ain't quite finished yet.  ;)

Just for you Hammers, old chum, seeing as you can't get enough of it: One last picture of a black cock...

So while I had the camera, figures and scenery out, I thought I'd take a shot or two of my whole Ngoni raiding party so far (minus the big chief and his dancing girls, as this is the assembly for a serious raid). A bit self-indulgent of me seeing as they have all been posted before, but I'm sure you'll forgive me.

I still don't think I'm quite done with these guys yet. I do love painting them so. Maybe just one more unit... :)

Oh dear! Bad news from the colonies in the morning papers, chaps...

Blimey!

Forgive me if my mind is slipping and you posted it somewhere before, but are those rocks an actual rock/stone or did you craft it from some modelling material? They look quite awesome.

Only earlier in the thread, old thing, and a few times before that.  lol

(Terrarium rocks. Not sure what they are made of but they aren't real rock and are hollow, and that's how they come. No need to do any work.)

Love the group shot.  :o

I have the same problem Plynkes, I can see myself buying/painting one more Ngoni army.

They are such a joy to paint.

lol Be still my thumping heart!

Thanks for that, it will go straight into my special photo album.

When I talk nostalgically about the glory days of LAF it is more of comment on my personal general lack of enthusiasm rather than an objective observation of the miniatures displayed here.

You must have been asked that question a thousand times, Plynkes, but what is your negro skin flesh recipe ? Whatever it is, I think it looks spot on.

Not a thousand times, more like four or five. And I think I say something different every time. So to continue that tradition...

I don't really have a recipe, more of a list of ingredients, and I mess about with them until it looks right. This is my "African Skin" section, which lives in a kind of Apartheid regime on the other side of the table from all my other paints:

Coat d'Arms Negro is the base colour, and I make the highlights from the other paints in the picture, just as it takes my fancy (I'm not methodical or scientific, though I wish I could be). Don't always use all of them. Mess around until it looks right. The Gryphonne Sepia wash goes on top of everything else, and is really the secret weapon of my technique. Always looks rubbish until that goes on, and then suddenly it looks like someone who knows what they're doing painted it.

It's all pretty much moot at this point however, as I don't think any of the above paints are available any more, apart from Coat d'Arms Negro. When current stocks run out, I am seriously screwed, and have no idea what the fuck I will do. Have to figure out a new system, I guess. That pot of Snakebite Leather is actually empty, and I have no more of that. Grrr...
