I've seen many a fossil but nothing like this before!  To make matters worse I have found they are availble on eBay / Amazon and some great ones on http://www.fossilsforsale.co.uk/bismuthcrystals.htm

Now if they would grow them with a circular bottom and square top they would make great bases!

I remember when i was a kid i had some Bismuth crystals. As they were quite small i mainly used them when playing with my Airfix soldiers. Wonder where they are?
