IHMN: Lord Curr's Company
« on: June 17, 2013, 10:53:15 PM »
Hi Guys,

I've recently joined the board after discovering it from the In Her Majesty's Name blog (my first foray into VSF) and I'm amazed at all the great stuff I'm seeing on here (I'm still drooling over the professors workbench pictures). Anyway, I've just *almost* finished painting my Lord Curr's Company from IHMN and wanted to share it on here. I set myself a challenge to get them painted in time for my first game of IHMN on tuesday night, which gave me 5 nights, and I'm pretty happy with how I got on. Please have a look and let me what you think:

Lad, you DO know how to make an entrance!

Welcome, and well met!

Lovely symmetry, as many of us learned of IHMN through posts on this forum, though I fear the question is begged: How'd YOU come to know of it?

Thus far, Curr and Ra seem to be of highest announced factions, with the Yard and those darn Prussians of 'onorable mention. My own Black Dragon's seem a dark horse, which was part of the charm, to me.

Your folk DO look well-turned out! Your thoughts concerning eyes are backed by how well these do as is.

Welcome to Lead Adventure! Good work on the figures- the mad scientist and Mohan look particularly nice.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Thank's guys! I actually heard of IHMN via amazon - I was on holiday and got an email through suggesting a set of rules I may like. Had a quick look at them and bought them instantly. never have I had so much fun with *just* a rulebook before, can't wait for the game tonight!

I'll second that,  kudos on the old crazy prof.  IHMN is mad,  crazy and super adaptable for such a small set of rules it does a great job of firing the imagination.

5 nights you say.  Can't wait to see what you can do with more time :)

Well done, though you have revived my feelings of inadequacy! I haven't been able to paint that many miniatures in the past five months, much less five days! Much less to such a wonderful standard - they look terrific.

Truly, I was keeping up a brave face, but once he's had a chance to look through old threads, he'll know my list of hated competence in painting is long, honorable, and, be assured, has his nick added...

Nicely done young fellow, nicely done!

I've snipped a photo and put you on the IHMN blog for all to wonder at  :D

I hope you enjoy playing the game as much as you seem to have enjoyed painting Steve Saleh's excellent sculpts.

Wow, thanks Craig, I'm honoured! And thank you everyone else for your kind comments. Now to decide which company to go with next - although after 5 days of painting, I need a break :-)

We had our first game tonight and it was a rather entertaining jaunt. It was up against Scotland yard, and we played the catch the pigeon scenario which Lord Curr managed to win it, even though the company was down to 3 men by the end! (from 9) It was pure luck that the pigeon basically sauntered 8" towards my company in its first movement, and I legged it off the board with it in my 3rd turn.

I found it very difficult to hit any of the incoming scotland yard in the first few turns, due to running/moving penalties and a lot of hard cover, so I rather rashly decided after I had nabbed the pigeon to run headlong into combat. Which if anyone's read the stats of the two companies, that is not going to favour curr in any way whatsoever! My only saving grace was Mohan Singh, who annihilated the consulting detective with his +6 FV, a satisfying victory as I had been targeting him with shooting to no avail.

I look forward to a rematch, although I don't know what I'll be up against next time as it was entirely a proxy match on my opponents behalf.

Lord Curr's company is very well done and at break neck speed no less! Your blog looks promising I anticipate it will be crammed with impressively painted miniatures in the near future.

No pressure ...   :o

I think with saying that you painted these in 5 days that you may just have made a rod for your own back here ...

 ;)
